Let’s get real for a second.

Plus size fashion didn’t rise to prominence because brands suddenly started caring. It became noticeable because plus-size influencers like Kenajoo emerged, gained exposure, and built an audience that can’t be ignored.

Before extended sizing became a strategy, plus-size creators were already creating a space where they could style themselves with limited options, honestly review brands, and feel confident unfettered by numbers on tags. They were working in real time, often without trust, budget, or backup.

And its influence is undeniable.

According to Influencer Marketing Hub research, approximately 49% of consumers We rely on influencer recommendations when making purchasing decisions, especially in the fashion and beauty sector where authenticity and relevance are paramount.

Let’s combine this with this. In the U.S. plus size apparel market alone, Over $24 billionBut plus-size consumers remain underserved, undervalued, and too often treated like an afterthought.

That gap? Plus size influencers fill this site every day.

Simply put, plus-size influencers are not a niche. They are the fuel for discovery, confidence, and transformation.

That’s why The Curvy Fashionista created the Plus Influencer Spotlight series.

This ongoing editorial feature highlights plus-size influencers and content creators who don’t just post their outfits, they’re shaping culture, building communities, and driving conversations around visibility, confidence, and representation.

Because expression is not a trend.

And because you can’t be what you can’t see.

Editorial note: Plus-size influencers sit at the intersection of trust, community, and buying power. For brands, this is where real influence lives.

So here we go with the next Plus Influencer Spotlight.

Plus Influencer Spotlight: Kenajooo is proof that confidence is a daily choice

Some creators plan their influencer’s origin story right down to the last grid post. Kenajooo was not like that. to be honest? That’s part of the magic.

Based in Baltimore, Maryland, Kenajooo’s journey into content creation, like many true creators, began by chance during the chaos of 2020’s lockdown. What started as learning TikTok dances with her niece Milan “just for fun” quickly turned into something much bigger.

“Before I knew it, people started paying attention,” she says. “But things really took off after I shared a video of me standing up during a date. The story was relatable, but everyone was obsessed with my outfit.”

That moment was a lightbulb. Not because of its virality, but because of what it revealed.

“It taught me the power of being confident, stylish, and being your authentic self.”

From there, Kenajooo’s platform evolved into what it is today. A space where plus-size women feel seen, affirmed, and encouraged to take up space without shame.

When the internet meets real life

Influence is not always measured by likes and views. Sometimes it appears to be standing still on the street.

“I realized my content was having an impact when women started stopping me in public and messaging me to tell me how much they resonated with my videos,” she says. “The love I receive both online and in person is so genuine.”

That moment made her persevere. They remind her that there are real women on the other side of the screen, beyond aesthetics and content schedules.

“I create things that make people feel noticed.”

And how does that feel? That permeates everything she does.

“Girls” are the driving force

Ask Kenajooo why she keeps showing up and you’ll get the answer right away.

“The girls are my motivation…always.”

Every outfit she shares, every recommendation she makes, and every styling tip she drops is created with the community in mind.

“I’m always so amazed when I see women wearing the items I share or sending me photos of themselves looking confident and glowing,” she says. “It’s a very beautiful reminder that this is more than fashion.”

For Kenajooo, style is a conduit. It’s about confidence, connection, and collective joy.

Minimalist, trendy, feminine and rooted in tradition

What if she had to describe her personal style in just a few words?

“Minimal, trendy, feminine.”

But dig a little deeper and you’ll find layers of influence that go far beyond trends. Her aunts played a huge role in shaping her style and idea of self-expression.

“They taught me what timeless confidence feels like. They always had grace and flair.”

And Monique’s presence has left an eternal mark.

“She made being a confident plus-size woman look like a celebration, and that combination of humor, confidence, and sophistication has stayed with me ever since.”

Challenge the rules by being fully present

Kenajooo doesn’t believe that plus size fashion needs to be innovative to be radical. Sometimes, just showing up completely is enough.

“I use my platform to show that plus-size women can also be stylish and confident,” she explains. “I love putting together looks that challenge the idea that you have to hide your body or dress a certain way.”

For her, visualization is her job.

“Confidence doesn’t begin when you reach a certain size. Confidence begins when you decide to love yourself for who you are.”

Every outfit, every post, every caption is intentional.

“Fashion should feel fun and free, not limited by a number on a tag.”

What Brands Still Do Wrong

Kenajooo doesn’t let his frustrations with the fashion industry surface.

“I wish more brands understood that plus-size women are women too.”

She points out that even though so many consumers feel it, it is rarely acknowledged.

“We want to feel as beautiful and stylish and all of those things as everyone else. Sometimes we feel like we’re being treated like an afterthought.”

And brands find themselves doing the bare minimum.

“Plus size fashion is about more than just adding extra size. It’s about intention, inclusion, and representation.”

Style hacks, harassment, and the power of accessories

When it comes to practical style advice, Kenajooo is always down to earth.

What are her must-know hacks?

“Learn how to use scissors. You can tailor, trim, and style any piece to your liking.”

What is her go-to to boost her confidence?

“A pair of unique glasses or a cute gold or silver bangle. Accessories can transform simple things into something uniquely personal.”

And what’s her biggest style complaint?

“When people get so caught up in trends that they forget their true nature. Style should tell your story, not copy someone else.”

The jeans that brought her back

Right now, there’s one brand that’s making her feel truly unstoppable.

Universal standards, especially jeans.

“Recently, I’ve regained my confidence in wearing jeans. I’m obsessed with them,” she says. “They have truly mastered the art of fit. I feel supported, stylish and unstoppable every time.”

Redefining influence

For Kenajooo, influence isn’t about leading people or chasing numbers.

“It’s about community, connection, and self-reflection,” she explains. “It’s like a Jordan Peel Us moment. It’s a mirror between me and the women who see themselves in my content.”

That mutual inspiration makes it a reality.

Plus, she’s quietly building something special. I want to keep my jewelry brand close to my heart and launch it in late 2026 or early 2027.

“It’s still early days, but it’s something I’ve dreamed of for a long time.”
