My career as a beauty editor often places me in a unique environment with talented individuals who encourage me to reassess how I approach self-care. Before I devote my remaining time to research, review and share with readers, I am experimenting with beauty products for most of my work days, but I always find myself coming back to the moment when industry experts who are only accessible on an IFKYK basis can beat them.
When I have the opportunity to ask as many questions as possible about new products, treatments, or methods, I generally have a phone ready to ask notes or additional questions that have already been brewed in my brain before the last answer. But I have the opportunity to capitalize on quiet thoughts through unique interactions with experts who encourage silence these big ideas. During my first few months of living and working in New York, I was able to meet one of these special individuals. Gillian Wrighta master esthetician and educator with over 20 years of experience.
Wright invited me to visit her skincare suite Bloom Beauty Lounge receive Alchemy of Toucha duo treatment using herself and her longtime friends, fellow master estheticians, Reiki/bioenergy healing specialists. Samantha Roberts. Wright’s official website describes the session as “real immersive in touch and energetic alignment,” providing additional insight into two art treatments. It starts with a facial customized for each skincare needs and concludes with a balance of reflexology and frequency.
Below we share everything we’ve learned directly from Wright and Roberts since, in addition to the biggest takeaway from experience. Spoiler alert: It’s niche and luxurious and packed with all the good things you need to make your body and mind thrive in the midst of our busy lifestyle.
The easiest way to explain touch alchemy is as a treatment, but I agree with Wright and Roberts that it is more accurate to consider this a very niche experience. All parts of it focus on grounding and alignment of the body’s energy. Touch plays a prominent role in the experience, allowing strong partnerships and silent communication between Wright and Roberts to go up to the centre stage. I had the opportunity to catch up with both of them in a few weeks and finally got to learn more about what I’ve entered into its development, and what these master aestheticians are doing while you’re blissful.
According to Wright, the alchemy idea for the touch experience is the result of a long-standing friendship with Roberts, made possible by shared synergies and unwavering trust. The idea of introducing a collaborative treatment was proposed after Wright proposed to Roberts to Roberts, and the latter became a licensed masseuse for a service that combines the benefits of custom facials with the benefits of reflexology, chakra balance and energy work. “We were confident enough to know that this experience was amazing. We wanted to bring about a rare and unique experience that reflected our relationship and level of expertise, all the things happening in the world and the decline in attention with technology,” Wright says.
Rather, leaning towards cutting-edge technology, Wright slammed their unique gifts and their desire to do something special together, allowing them to share with their clients during thoughtful sessions that combine them. “When will you have the opportunity to have two? Master Aestheticians working on you at the same time? It’s a very special experience,” she says. The close collaboration sparked the interest of Roberts (there is a gentle space below the hall from the Bloom Beauty Lounge).
The first thing I wondered about was whether a generous invitation to experience the alchemy of the touch that landed in my inbox would be over-stimulated by two experts working on me from head to toe. Little did I know that from the moment I stepped into a room where everything would fall quickly, I would remain much lighter than I came.
Customized facials and reflexology

On my first inspection, Wright’s cozy studio space resembles many other spaces I’ve come to experience during my beauty career. It was until she pulled back the white sheets and padding of her elevated treatment bed. Chakra Balance Mat Photon phototherapy amplified with PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field therapy) and 40 pounds of sparkling certified crystals. Wright discovered the mat at the meeting and decided to add it to the free treatment bed to provide warmth and full body detox. “There’s also PEMF that regulates the frequency at the Earth’s frequencies, so it’s like a digital detox,” explains Wright.
The light uses a comprehensive facial model. This means you will be billed hourly, not add-ons. This means that if she brings technology into her space, she’s taking every step of it possible within the time she writes the book with her. However, the benefits of facials and everything that follows the postword begins before the client walks through the door. Prior to your arrival, Roberts selects the two crystals that she will benefit you most. After climbing the treatment bed, they will be placed on your chest (mine is a quartz crystal to promote clarity and healing, and pyrite has been promoted to lower my high anxiety levels). While Wright gave me a once-in-a-lifetime facial, Roberts’ attention was to treat my feet with grounding and relaxing reflexology methods.
Things to note about this part of the treatment can be extended as long as you want to address specific skincare concerns. The lights easily blend with advanced skin modalities such as LEDs, facial cupping, microcurrents, cryotherapy, or skin restoration and balancing, with more “traditional” facial methods. “There are a lot of different modalities, and there are so many things that can be done while someone is requesting… why don’t you have what you need?” adds Roberts.
Chakra Balance and Energy Work

Roberts then takes over the treatment and jumps into a session and energy task that balances the chakra. Moving from the edge of the treatment bed to the top, she delicately places her hands behind the client’s neck, closes her eyes and embarks on a healing journey of energy work and vibrations. “When I put my hands on you, and before you come because I’m going to choose for you, I really try to use my energy,” she says. “Everything on the feet is to feel any obstruction in the lower channels for relaxation and for relaxation (spleen, bladder, gallbladder, liver, kidneys).”
When your energy is defeated, she moves to the top of your head and neck, scanning for obstruction and inflammation in your body. Roberts can also identify previously broken bones and digestive issues. If Wright knows the client prior to treatment, she will not share information with Roberts. Roberts may even know your name before meeting you in the treatment bed. “We use energy before our services. We don’t need to know anything about you! When you are using energy, it doesn’t matter,” she explains. The same process applies when Roberts is choosing your aromatherapy for treatment.
My Reiki scan revealed four main things about my overall health and led me to provide a simple solution for Light.
- I left inflammation in my right knee from my age as a classic ballet dancer
- I’m eating too many cold foods that can lead to digestive issues… It’s worth investing in a juicer for the juicy of fresh celery
- I have high levels of anxiety so I can benefit from using Ashwagandha and Gaba to maintain my level
- My third eye is almost open and I need to cooperate a little more to reveal itself
Finale

Roberts helps you identify everything from old injuries to digestive issues, but Wright will massage your hands and arms. The treatment didn’t end here… Roberts also has the gift of being a medium. In the middle of my full body scan I was asked if I felt open to speaking to a mentality known to me. It became clear that he was my paternal grandfather. He is the man who passed away when I was 15 years old. Most of what I learned about him came from heartwarming conversations with my dad, grandfather and aunt. As much as I loved getting to know him through my family, I missed the opportunity to get to know him as an adult, so doing connected with him in the afterlife made me feel deeply loved.
It should be noted, however, that this can only be done if Roberts is provided with the energy and channels to do so from her clients and therefore depends on the session. But everything about my treatment, from my initial facial with my grandfather through Roberts to my heartwarming communication with my grandfather, made this experience one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had. It left me with a refreshing skin, a perfect heart and appreciation for the art that this powerful duo has mastered.
The Alchemy of Touch is a service that can only be booked via text, phone or email. Both Wright and Roberts can also book themselves at the Bloom Beauty Lounge.
