Whether your style is alternative, punk, femme, girly pop, gender neutral, or mascot, Thick Thrift has plenty of affordable options to build an inspiring wardrobe. With so many vintage and upcycled items, you can find unique clothing that you won’t find anywhere else.
What is this thick frugality? Do you ask?
Thick Thrift started as a sidewalk sale. They wanted to give plus size shoppers an IRL experience that many of us don’t really get. Over the past year and a half, it has become a must-go destination.
Thick Thrift reflects the frustrations many of us plus-size folks face from ticket sites. Thick Thrift is like a plus-size dream mall with 60 unique stores…but instead of your typical fast fashion, you’ll find indie brands, carefully curated vintage, 2K, and amazing You will find 1 of 1 items. ”
“We only carry sizes 12 and up in our stores, which are sold by sellers and brands from all over Southern California and beyond, and we have spacious fitting rooms and mirrors so you can try on our products. Other vendors will also be selling handmade jewelry, unique accessories, art, home goods, records, tattoos and piercings, food and drinks, and more.”
Currently, Thick Thrift includes Tess Holliday and Danny Franzesehis new stall, Handsome Heavyweight. The Thick Thrift founders are thrilled to be working with the very influencers who inspired this entire project.
It’s so cool to see how quickly it’s growing and shows how necessary spaces like Thick Thrift are to our community. Every stall was filled with plus-size beauties. Countless artists were selling their work, delicious food, and of course clothing.
Be frugal with extreme frugality
One of the things I love most about thrifting is trying new styles. That might be me, but I haven’t tried it yet. It’s great to get inspiration from gentle old clothes and think, “Maybe I should try that too.” Want to wear something completely different? Will I be able to do it? Even if I can’t, will it bring me joy? ”
For me, experimenting with styles is fun. It always helps when someone compliments my new clothes, seeing how I feel when I wear them. I love seeing so many brands exhibiting and sharing the inspiration, passion, and joy of selling clothes, and Thick Thrift was full of small businesses doing just that.
Rachel Frank exclaims: It’s a safe place to be yourself. ”
