For most celebrities, wearing a gown for a red carpet event is like wearing a uniform. Instead of closing in the office, they step into the red carpet to take photos and scrutinize them from every angle. For many Hollywood A-lists, stylists work behind the scenes, securing their looks from the latest trending runway collection. Some are content that involves choosing a gown from pre-approved line sheets, while others consider the dressing on the red carpet to be a much more personal and artistic dressing.
Famous Haute Couture Collector, Philanthropist, and Glittering Empire Producer and Star Christine Chiufashion is a type of storytelling, an expression that weaves in the most important elements of her life. So that’s not surprising 2025 Gold GalaChiu collaborated with designers Ouma In a custom gown inspired by Qing Dynasty paintings of deep personal importance.
The annual Gold Gala, hosted by the nonprofit Gold House, celebrates the excellence and impact within the Asian American and Pacific Islands (AAPI) community. Star-studded events bring together leaders in music, fashion, film and sports to celebrate and champion the voice of AAPI. And in today’s cultural and political climate, more important than ever appears (and stands out!).
Chiu said Who’s wearing it? That the whole experience bringing her custom look back to life was extremely exciting. “Made by her upbringing in Beijing and working with great American designers such as Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, OU’s artistic vision brings a unique blend of tradition and modernity to her designs,” Chiu added. “OU has created a detailed gown that not only celebrates the elegance of our cultural roots, but also embodies the spirit of innovation and empowerment that AAPI Heritage Month represents.”
