Designer Jason Wu Wu has once again created a beautiful masterpiece in the form of clothing. During New York Fashion Week, Wu 82-year-old Taiwanese calligrapher Tong Yangzi For the Spring 2025 collection.
Painted black structure background Hudson Yards GardensModels strutted down the sidewalks wearing beautiful abstract garments that were textured and ahead of their time.
Reflecting the times we live in, we see unfinished hems and deconstructed silhouettes, suggesting the ability to let go, pivot and find new directions.
YangziKnown for his large-scale calligraphy pieces done in black cursive script, Â was the inspiration behind Wu’s collections, which is evident in his neutral canvases.
With its free-form writing on the garment, sheer fabric and pleats, the design is the Taiwanese designer’s rebellious best.
As someone who believes that the devil is in the details and that there is beauty in simplicity, we also saw clean lines and soft pastel colors paired with flatform sandals throughout Wu’s line.
Brown will be the staple color of this fall season and will carry us through to spring 2025. His line featured oversized, textured suits and avant-garde maxi dresses that were a treat for the eyes.
Brighter hues, as well as a black trench coat with white lettering, added contrast to his spring debut. This season, Wu thought outside the box and moved away from traditional techniques to evolve with the times.
