On my last day in Paris during Paris Fashion Week, I grabbed a pick at the Eiffel Tower wearing a dress from a black woman-owned brand. mahogany collection.
Posing against one of the world’s most iconic backdrops, her textured black floral dress looked sculptural yet romantic, giving off a perfect balance of strength and femininity.

Mahogani Collections was founded by mother-daughter duo Phyllis Mitchell and Christine Eades. They started making handmade jewelry in Detroit and then branched out into fashion. Their work speaks to the heritage, artistry, and intergenerational power of Black women in design. I’m proud to help tell this story on the world stage. From Michigan Fashion Week to the Bomb Fashion Show to Paris, their journey is a testament to vision and perseverance.

As I stood with my back to the Eiffel Tower, I was deeply grateful not only for the view, but also for the opportunity to use my platform to shine a spotlight on remarkable emerging designers. Fashion is more than just clothes. It’s culture, connection, and community. And when one of us stands up, we all stand up. ✨
