The girl brings back bold footwear, but nothing has been said in the iconic Versace spring heel-like statement shoes.
With futuristic colour blocks, sculpture shapes and towering heights, these shoes defined the bold era in fashion. Should we revisit this age of bold footwear? Let’s take a look at how today’s stars style.
Latto will be held in YFN Lucci & Friends Welcome Concert Spring 2010 ready-made boots, paired with sophisticated strapless LBD, a Hello Kitty key chain in pink Chanel flap bag and a layered diamond chain. The hypnotic black and white geometric prints of the boots took a central stage against her minimal dress, and sometimes proved that the shoes were costumes.
Nicki Minaj has returned to Versace’s geometric heeled satin sandals, a $1,125 archival style that first debuted in 2011. At the time, she wore them in a leather jacket, a fishnet and platinum blonde bangs. Fashion Bomb Everyday actually covered the exterior over a decade ago.
Skai Jackson provided the Denim-on-Denim Chic and rocked a button-front mini dress on the Versace Rainbow platform. With neon green heels, sky blue platforms and hot pink accents, the bold sandals were perfectly balanced with the structured mini and sparkly fuchsia mini bag. Her appearance is young, but she had a nostalgic nod in the early 2010s.
Skai’s friends styled a rainbow platform from the same collection with matching jackets with cropped dark denim, highlighting the versatility of the heels of these statements. By keeping the palette smooth and neutral, she pops the multi-colored platform, creating a modern yet retro-inspired atmosphere.
Jayda Cheaves brought a steamy edge to the Barberose-styled archive Versace 2010 lineup. She paired it with bold orange snake embossed boots, curved embracing python pants and textured fur trimmed top. The blushing quilted Chanel flap bag and oversized shades add a luxurious touch, while the diamond gems enhance the ensemble with modern charm.
The complexity of these shoes (geometric shapes, play with colours, exaggerated silhouettes) reminds us of a time when footwear pushed boundaries and defined the entire appearance. The question is clear as Rat, Nikki and Sky are all breathing new life into these archive Versace designs. Should I get my bold footwear back?
