I can’t believe that 2025 is coming to an end. It feels like just yesterday that I woke up on January 1st, flipped the calendar to a new page, and predicted the biggest hair, makeup, and nail trends that would dominate the next 365 days. But here we are, in December, and on the eve of 2026 (save you from your soliloquy about the relentless passing of time). Now it’s time to look back and review our work. Were our predictions correct? Did we accurately pick some of this year’s biggest trends from the sky? Spoiler alert: Most of the time, yes!
Google recently released its annual report. year of search This data looks back at trillions of searches since 2025. This data shows the top trending searches, i.e., searches that have experienced sustained spikes in traffic, both in the U.S. and globally. It reveals the beauty trends that *actually* garnered the most interest and attention this year, at least on the internet.
Why look back? It’s simple. Maya Angelou once said: “You can’t really know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been.” That’s an apt perspective on life, and perhaps beauty and culture as well. Check out the nine beauty trends we predicted, covered, and researched in this year’s Who What Wear. Most of them are as relevant as ever.

PDRN
If there’s one thing 2025 has taught us, it’s that the internet loves PDRN (also known as salmon sperm. Yes, you read that correctly). This viral ingredient went viral on social media with the help of celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Kim Kardashian. jennifer anistonthey’re reportedly fans of in-office PDRN skin treatments. Abbreviation for polydeoxyribonucleotide. “PDRN is a DNA-derived molecule (traditionally obtained from salmon sperm) used in skin regeneration.” Anna Karpa board-certified dermatologist and clinical assistant professor of dermatology at New York University School of Medicine, previously told Who What Wear. “PDRN improves skin healing and regeneration, increases fibroblast activity, increases collagen stimulation, and reduces inflammation.”
Most PDRN skin care products use plant-based ingredients rather than salmon. Still, experts say it can provide similar skin benefits. PDRN was one of the most talked about skincare ingredients in 2025, and I doubt anything will change in 2026. PDRN should become the “most popular” ingredient on the internet in the near future.

azelaic acid
According to Google’s Year in Search data, azelaic acid was the most trending skin care acid in 2025. That’s no surprise, considering azelaic acid is a versatile ingredient that benefits multiple skin types and can address a variety of concerns.
“Azelaic acid is a type of acid that is naturally produced by yeast.” jesse chanMD, a board-certified dermatologist based in Illinois and New York City, previously told Who What Wear. “It has become a particularly popular skin care ingredient worldwide. Clean beauty departmentbecause it comes from natural sources. Lymph face massage
“Lymphatic facial massage” was also a top trending search term. This refers to the lymphatic system, which is the body’s way of filtering out cell and tissue debris. When lymph fluid (a clear fluid that circulates throughout the body that contains white blood cells) flows through the lymph nodes, it removes waste products, protects the body from foreign invaders, and maintains the body’s fluid levels. As such, it is important for overall health and plays a major role in the body’s immune response. But it’s not just the health benefits of lymphatic drainage that people love. There are also aesthetic benefits. Many people swear by lymphatic drainage massage to tone their neck, jawline, and cheekbones because it can make skin look smoother and firmer.

espresso/mocha mousse
Mocha Mousse was Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2025, so it’s no surprise that Mocha Mousse swept both Colors of the Year. Area of fashion and beauty. This year, the internet was obsessed with espresso and mocha mousse hair colors. “Mocha Mousse” [shade] It’s really popular.” chris appleton We talked about who wears what before. “I think people like cool tones and warm tones, and light and dark combinations.” This is very similar to the espresso hair trend, which is also mentioned in Google’s report. The only difference will be the depth and undertone. Espresso hair is usually dark and cool. Mocha mousse is a little light and warm. Anyway, coffee-inspired hair colors were trending.

cherry cola
Cherry Cola is a deep and very flattering hair color that seems to have gotten a lot of attention online in 2025. It combines dark brunette shades with red-purple shades. To be honest, I understand the hype. Dua Lipa’s interpretation of cherry cola hair still lives in our heads without a hitch. Perhaps 2026 will see a return to this bold, luxurious color.

honey brown
Honey brown hair is one of those colors that will forever feel chic and relevant (just look at J.Lo for proof). So even if it’s a top trending search in 2025, we don’t expect it to change in 2026 or beyond. celebrity hair stylist Dimitris Giannetos She previously told Who What Wear that this trend is perfect for “people who want to go blonde but are looking for something low-maintenance and less damaging to their hair.” Since it’s a color between brown and blonde, your colorist can adjust it to warmer or cooler tones to complement your specific skin tone.

butter yellow nails
Butter yellow was the *color of 2025 – there’s no doubt about it. It took over the fashion world and eventually appeared on nail polish mood boards. The bright, sunny colors felt fresh and hopeful, and were a colorful (yet chic!) departure from other nail colors that have been talked about in the past.
polka dot nails
I think you can blame (or even be grateful!). Sabrina Carpenter’s polka dot nail designs were all the rage this year. The singer famously sported polka dot nail polish in her music video for “Manchild,” which caused a frenzy of attention on the internet. She’s been getting manicures ever since, and honestly, we love it. More polka dot nails please in 2026!
cheetah print nails
According to Google data, “cheetah print nails” is the top trending search term. This felt more relevant later this year thanks to celebrities like: The likes of Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner have embraced all kinds of animal print nail designs. In addition to cheetah print, there were also leopard, snakeskin, and tortoiseshell prints. This is officially the coolest, most maximalist manicure of the year.
