The night that redefined her life

Back in early 2022, Ashley Graham’s life has changed forever. Her labor with the twins suddenly began in the middle of the night. Within hours, Malachi and Rome were born. One was in her living room and the other in her bathtub. What seemed like a quick and miraculous delivery quickly got caught up in a crisis.

After celebrating the safe arrival of the twins, Ashley collapsed from a massive amount of bleeding. She loses liters of blood as her husband Justin prayed at her side and the midwife worked urgently to save her life. It was an experience that left both physical and emotional scars.

Long recovery

For the next few weeks, Ashley was trapped in her bed and could not even walk or crave without assistance. Her twins flourished, but she remained plagued by the house for almost two months. That fragile recovery marked the beginning of a much larger journey.

Choose to be grateful for trauma

Looking back, Ashley often emphasizes her gratitude for the pain. She praises her midwife, her faith and her family for keeping her alive. “You saved me. God saved me,” she would tell them. Even in her darkest moments, she chose to focus on survival as a miracle.

The body changed by motherhood

By 2025, Ashley spoke even more openly about how childbirth has changed her relationship with her body. For those who have long been a physically positive face, it was humble memory that post-trauma narcissism was rarely easy.

Lessons from previous motherhood

Looking back at the birth of her eldest son Isaac in 2019, Ashley acknowledged how unprepared she was in the postpartum reality. The experience, although challenging, was pale compared to what followed in later years, gave her perspective on how motherhood can change identity.

Loss and isolation

In 2021, miscarriage and pandemic isolation left Ashley in one of her worst chapters. Living with Justin and Isaac in her mother’s Nebraska basement, she personally felt sad while struggling with her body image. Looking back at 2025, she describes this as an era of resilience, not just a period of deep solitude.

Carry twins and carry anxiety

Her pregnancy with twins brought joy, but also overwhelming change. The stretch marks spread throughout her body, testing her confidence as a lingerie model. She shared photos of her new body online, and she reconstructed them as symbols of life – her husband even called them the “trees of life.”

Support that changed the story

Her collaboration with Knix, which was delayed by her recovery, became a turning point. Founder Joanna Griffiths gave Ashley time and empathy instead of pressure. By 2025, the partnership had become a well-known example of how the fashion industry can honestly and considerately support mothers.

The journey is still unfolding

Now, in 2025, Ashley continues to talk candidly about her body. Some days she feels proud and unstoppable, while others are unstable. But she embraced duality – a warrior and vulnerable woman, mother, model. Her story continues to remind us that beauty, survival, and self-love are by no means linear, but always worth claiming.
