After a very fun and productive week in New York (see here) filled with meetings and meetups, I decided to travel to Stockholm! Why Stockholm? Well, my husband and I wanted to spend a vacation soon, so we wanted to visit a walkable European city to explore for a few days. There were three criteria. One is that neither of us had to be a place we hadn’t visited before. Secondly, we needed cool weather. And the third one had to be a direct flight from NYC. After narrowing down to a few options, we landed in Stockholm…
Accommodation
I usually don’t enjoy staying in multiple hotels when traveling to one place. But given that we wanted to pack light (a kind of 🙂) and explore as much as possible, we thought the hotel switch would broaden our experience. In the end we landed at two hotels. ETTHEM and STADSHOTELL.
ett hem
I’ve heard rave reviews ett hemthe boutique hotel in Ostermalm, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Our experience was incredible. The property spreads across two townhouses and is full of Scandinavian art and design. The staff and guests share all of the same spaces, making it very social and communal. You can even step into the kitchen, make cocktails at the bar, or keep records in the living room. It’s like staying at a friend’s house! All the general spaces are designed perfectly while feeling warm and attractive. All the small details are magical and make this hotel a completely unique experience.
Stud Chotelle

This hotel is brand new. Honestly, I didn’t hear much about it. I wanted to spend a few days exploring Stockholm’s Seedormalm district, but first came across a hotel restaurant. After some brief research on the property itself, we decided to book a stay. Stud Chotelle It is located in an incredible 19th century residence, listed as a national historic site. All the details are very dreamy. A large front courtyard cafe, a formal chapel became a dining room, and a reflection on the building’s rich history. Big Bonus: It only opened five months ago, so everything felt so new!
