Applying makeup in the sun-stained fields of British countryside, hanging from the side of a boat or on the way in and out of an appointment in the middle of a busy bus, have you come across a cool, easy and cool content creator? You may have experienced Emily Wood’s quirky, high-energy magic afterwards. Over the past few years, this on-the-go beauty lover has captured our attention and opinions with her fast-paced artistic take on makeup tutorials. Whether the wood is graffitising something similar to a colored pencil (and definitely an eyeliner) on your cheeks, forehead, or nose, or creating an eye shadow wolk with four supercatalytic tints, the finished result can be as picturesque as a woman makes it happen.

Now her brother has decorated the HBO screen White lotus Wood in Season 3 is even more grateful for her craft flexibility and for her incentives to think of her daily makeup routine as a way to play with colour and texture. We caught up with Wood and learned more about her creativity, her top products, and inspiration that promotes advice for anyone who wants to follow in her footsteps.

You describe yourself as the “face decorator” of your tiktok bio. Are you always painted in colour and organic shapes? And why do you prefer to apply products by hand over brushes or beauty blenders?

I’m very intuitive to make-up and worrying about it sounding quite cheap in earnest, but my approach to art at school felt natural. I grew up loving the imperfect approach, textures and going to stationery stores over the weekends. It’s very specific and I’m a nerd of my own type! I have always been very careful and attracted to imperfect things.

Now it feels very comparable. …I consider it beautiful because I find it hard to maintain my everyday life and resonate with people who have ADHD, as someone who resonates with someone who is rather messy. From a very young age in art, I have always been looking for textures and my pigments were really messy. Those are still the types of paintings and artworks I touch. With my makeup, I don’t know… I feel just like I am know What to do!

Layer [makeup products] Just like you stack art on paper. I’m just doing it and I really don’t have a plan for what I want to create. Put your things in your bag and go outside. I think there’s something very beautiful and powerful about the fact that I do it outside because I have to use what I have. It made me very creative!

I’m dyslexic too, so problem solving is my strength. I’m good at solving problems in a crisis. On a much smaller scale, I need to understand things and teach myself how to work with my brain in ways that others don’t involve. At school, I didn’t learn the same way as my peers. The way I learn is very visual and that’s why art was so important to me. There were no rules, and it was all about emotions and self-expression.

You are the definition of a true makeup artist! Whenever I see your content, it’s an art, from the way the product is applied to the skin with your hands to the act of doing it outside. Where do you find inspiration?

yes! On the strange occasions I use [brushes]people in the comments are always like, “What are you waiting for?” I didn’t think it was something I was doing that much until I went back and saw it while editing. I generally don’t follow trends or hardships when I have to work closely with others and quote them in publications about my favorite things. It took me a while to accept it about myself and I know it’s okay!

From such a young age, I saw my mother and Nana apply makeup. They are never do not have Please flash it to your nose! My mother wears matte pink lips with rainbow and brown lip liners all the time. That’s everything I’ve ever seen! I’m inspiration from seeing them both put on their makeup. There are many neural bodies, and they are very creative. I’m also inspired by friends Mirena. The way she thinks and puts things together really drives me.

As a makeup artist, I long for connections and tell truthful and honest stories. Because we are all expected to be the best version of ourselves, but we are always expected to be happy in these spaces for the benefit of others. It’s a paradox that forces me to get out of my head, but there’s too much in my flow of consciousness.

I’m so happy to be able to create a career for myself. It goes outside even on my worst days. I’m grateful because it protects me from anti-mission and intrusive thoughts. I can say no to things! My little stick brain needs stimulation and autonomy. That has become even more important [with] My sister Recent career. I am delighted to have creative freedom that guides my interests and leads me through my work.

I was surprised at the number of people who didn’t know you Amy Lu They’re brothers! I’m so excited to hear you’re taking inspiration from the creative women in your family (including the type of products you wear). Please tell us more about your makeup favorites.

I also love using bright, colorful palettes! Recently, it was the face and body palette of Anastasia Beverly Hills. [they give] People like me are those who like layering, and the result is a very intense finish. I always dip one brush into them and stuff it really, and use a clean brush to shake my eyes and spread it.

There are things that powder products stick to because I like to get cream products and apply it as you use art primers. Whenever I wear my skin and my foundation, I want to lift, highlight and brighten it, so I wear a very intense mat. Then I put it in a way that matches my skin tone, although I have the powder almost rainbow colour.

There are almost all retro ways you do your makeup. This is very different from the makeup-free look we’ve seen over the past few years, we’ve seen, we’ve seen, we’ve seen.

I don’t use coverage. If the area you want to lift, add a blush or liner. That’s how I get the outline. I used to wear a lot of coverage, but when I was around 20 I liked curled eyelashes and flashed them for the Hobontan effect and realized I liked the lip line. When I’m in a hurry through the house, it’s my daily look. It takes 30 seconds and I feel like a new woman. It’s that, have liners on the forehead, cheeks, and lips, or an OTD Maximalist.

You seem to be out all the time! Are there any tips for anyone who wants to add some steps to level up their makeup routine while out?

Always bring a hand photographer with you! Dr. Bronner Lavender Hand Sanitizer It comes in all bags. It also has a contour as it adds depth to your face and has a liner that makes you feel more lively. I also want to add a flash to the apple on my cheeks [curl] Your eyelashes. A good rush curler is a game changer!

From the age of 11, I’d been sitting behind school classes and pulsing my eyelashes. I didn’t know that I had to replace the rubber ones on my eyelash curlers as the metal started to get in. I sliced half of the lashes from both sides and they took so long to grow. So I had to learn to change the rubber and put my eyelashes back in place! It was my system regulation tool.

Any advice for anyone struggling to get eyelashes to hold their curls?

It’s all about patience! It’s okay to wash your face before, but you should make sure your eyelashes are completely dry for at least 10-15 minutes. Rush curlers work well when you’re on the weight. Curl your lashes, wear a mascara coat, and let the lash curls dry before you can focus on really pulsating your lash curlers. Then repeat 4-5 times again. Also use the lash separator tool! They have these metal teeth to comb your lashes.

How did you start making makeup while you’re out?

The on-the-go was very natural for me. That makes sense! I’m really good at rushing things under pressure. I’ll be procrastinated and do anything else I need to do other than the actual task. Being outside is what I do every day. Because they show their makeup when they’re moving before they need to be somewhere at a certain time. There’s something about the pressure that will help me! When my art doesn’t work and the time goes up, it doesn’t feel good, but it’s also magic because you have to surrender to perfectionism.

What tips and tricks would you give to someone who looks like you to someone who wants to create unique and colorful makeup?

For a general approach, I always say you need to apply cream products that dry the mat. And the powder sticks to it. Also, always moisturize your skin and don’t forget to move! If your skin is hydrated, the product will slip due to the moisturizing base. Then it will dry. But that’s that step with moisturizing and SPF before scribbling the liner! Make sure you have a good skincare regime.

For bold looks, the main thing is if you want to layer the cream product and pigment on top, or if you want a red lid, for example. [scribble] Apply a red liner and blend immediately. Then pack a large amount of powdered pigment (step up by simply using a common primer) and get the tone. For multicolored lids, scribble green, red and yellow, then use the same color in pigment form.

Finally, one thing I’ve always loved about your posts is my choice of music. It’s not a trending song! How does it inform your artistry?

I go out with musicians, and music has always been my escapism. My sister is a movie, but mine has always been music! I always make new playlists. I can go from soul and jazz to rap in a few seconds, then go back to folk. I love music and I’m really intentional about my music. I don’t really imagine the look of makeup when listening to music, but I do imagine the general vibe! The song inspires me from a thematic perspective. This is also the way you think about filming content.
