I have always believed that what you wear on your trip sets the tone for your entire trip. There’s something about leaving the house in a sophisticated (but practical) outfit that elevates everything that makes everything from airport cues to snack training. Of course, summer brings its own considerations. This is an early start that makes the heat, creases and dressing feel like a chore.
But that’s where some clever costume formulas come into play. Over the years I have relied on a stylish, comfortable exterior rotation that works for short and long trips. Additionally, these combinations are also given a seal of approval from the fashion person. Think of wide-footed linen pants that feel like pajamas but look like effort, or matching coding that requires zero styling but always earns compliments. Also, while more and more people are embracing full skirts and spacious cotton shorts for their refreshing charm, loose jeans remain a staple for good reason.
Regardless of your plans, having some summer travel clothes will make packing and dressing easier, especially if your flight is scheduled before 7am. First, I’ve put together some of my favorites. It’s something that is comfortable and guaranteed to start your holiday with stylish notes.
7 chic summer travel outfits to bookmark this season
1. Cardigan + Cargo Pants + Canvas Bag
Style Notes: I recently travelled wearing cargo pants with side pockets, but I don’t know how convenient it was to have easy access to documents and easy to get through gates. On top, look at light layers like the best top and cardigans to hit the inevitable cold of the airplane cabin.

Relaxed wool cardigan
2. Long sleeve dress + Mary Janes + Shoulder bag

Style Notes: When I travel long distances, my choice of outfit is always a dress. Yes, that’s right, dress. Look for stretchy materials like jerseys. Look for a spacious style like the outfits mentioned above.

3. Jumper + Full Skirt + Tote Bag

Style Notes: Applying the same logic as the outfit above here, if you generally find it uncomfortable to sit on pants or jeans for a long time, a full skirt is a great travel solution. Anything wise about shoes will go, but a clean ballet flat works for short trips where you need to get out of the plane and go directly into the itinerary.

4. Knit cord + Baseball cap + Loafers

Style Notes: It’s especially useful for longer road trips and plane trips, but it really doesn’t improve knit coding. It’s refined, but incredibly comfortable. Make your favorite flats, baseball caps and chic holds all look elegant.

5. Sweatshirt + Shorts + Sweatshirt

Style Notes: Moving in shorts can be a viable option, especially when choosing a pair of loose cotton boxer types when your body temperature gets hot. The stretchy waistband is made for optimal comfort and you can keep your toast by adding cozy crew socks and a light layer (including sporty sweatshirts) on the top half.

6. BoxyTee + Linen Pants + Flip Flops

Style Notes: Wide footed pants are an easy travel option as they provide ample space to avoid feeling restricted while seated, whether by plane, train, car or bus. Linen is made light and breathable. Try yours for a while before committing to make sure they are not prone to serious wrinkles. I own this H&M pair and I can prove the fact that they don’t frown at all.

7. Blazer + Buggy Jeans + Trainer

Style Notes: Wearing jeans on a trip is divisive. Some people can’t think of anything worse, others won’t enjoy anything. If you are on a fence, we recommend trying a wide pair of feet with soft cotton wash. Along with a trainer and a blazer for elegance, they make a better combination.
