7 Fall/Winter 2025 Trends From the New York Fashion Week Runways

In the New York City moment you will be captivated by midtown from the Ukrainian American Institute on the Upper East Side, where Bevza’s clean and minimalist silhouettes are enchanted. Altuzarra presents designs that play on contrast themes. This adventure that sees talented designers do their best is what makes New York Fashion Week so refreshing, and the fall/winter 2025 season was no exception.

Every day for a week was filled with talented emerging designers, fully embodying the balance between the old and the new. Beyond the names mentioned above, rising stars like FFORME and TWP, who debuted their first and second collections during NYFW, as well as well-known label Calvin Klein, have independence sparked a new sense of excitement. It is a dynamic fusion of nostalgia and modernism, proving that past influences meet modern innovation and there is space for everyone in a ever-evolving fashion situation.

Despite the diversity of designers on display, there were similarities in terms of major fashion trends. Fringe accents made a statement about the runways of FForme, Bevza and Altuzarra, while elegant brooches made an impressive return with Tory Burch and Carolina Herrera. The basics of the wardrobe were reinterpreted through creative layers in Sandy Liang and Ashlyn, showing that the most powerful appearance stems from styling familiar clothes in unexpected ways. That’s just the beginning. Read on to discover the seven most important trends you need to know now and in the fall of 2025.

You don’t need to look far to see the MIDI skirt suit dominates the NYC runway. From Kallmeyer to Calvin Klein to Tory Burch, designers rethink the ’80s-inspired skirt suits for modern working women. These pieces were updated with a minimal approach focusing on clean lines, neutral tones and understated elegance. The midi pencil skirt and colorless jacket pairing offer a versatile and refined option, fully embodying the chic feel of NYC style.

One thing is for sure, designers showed innovative layering techniques in which clothing was combined in unexpected ways. Sandy Liang, for example, paired a button-down shirt and tie under a fur trimmed fleece jacket to create an impressive contrast between formal and casual elements. Altuzara featured a ruffled blouse under a short fur coat with a Peter Pan collar placed outside the jacket, blending delicate, luxurious textures. Ashlyn styled a red turtleneck knit under a long-sleeved peplum top, combining vibrant colors with structured designs. These designers challenged traditional styling norms by combining clothing in an unconventional way, making the ensemble look and feel dynamic, attractive and intentional.

If you’re keeping up with What Wear’s trends and celebrity style stories, you may know that you’re covering the wide range of Cape Court trends in 2024. It appeared in the Bottega Veneta S/S 24 and Phoebe Filo A1 collection. In leather style. Celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Rosie Huntington Whiteley also boasted the trends between LA and NYC. This season, designers are reinforcing the idea that this elegant outerwear will stay here. Brands like Kallmeyer and Brandon Maxwell are looking to expand this chic style into 2025, with double-breasted long coats, short trench coats and pullover styles, among other things.

Beautiful brooch

Another trend to gain momentum is beautiful brooches pinned to dresses, sweaters and outerwear. The accessories made that mark at the Fall/Winter 2024 show, but they won a central stage in the Fall/Winter 2025 collection, particularly Tory Burch, Carolina Herrera and Bevza. Once considered a staple of outdated jewelry boxes that symbolize the elegance of the old world, this brooch has been rethinked in innovative ways, from oversized jewellery designs to playful custom pieces. These eye-catching accents not only add a personal touch to any outfit, but also provide a unique opportunity to showcase personality and craftsmanship.

Loud luxury has become popular, but quiet luxury has not completely disappeared. The NYFW designers have subtly demonstrated this change by introducing the parts of the modest statement that combined maximum and minimal sensibilities and influenced them without being overwhelmed. For example, Altuzarra attracted attention for her decorative decorations in simple pieces such as turtleneck sweaters and pleated leather skirts. Similarly, Tory Burch and Simkhai presented bold coats that reinforce the simple layers worn underneath.

Fass Fringe

Details of the NYFW fringe were far from the typical flapper style of the 1920s. Instead, they were expensive and effortless, had a luxurious look and were combined with rich textures such as silk and satin. One of the outstanding pieces that caught my eye was the stunning Shirred dress from Altuzarra. This was as light as air and flowed elegantly with the movements of the model. FForme featured a collection featuring striking silk dresses decorated with fringes. Additionally, Bevza presented a black mini dress with a woven, knitted hem, from which the details of the long, o fringe were expanded. For those intrigued by Fringe Fashion, the following four pieces provide an excellent introduction to this energetic style.

Dramatic shearing outerwear

The dramatic shearling court made an impressive impact on the runway this season with collections from designers such as Altuzara, Kite and TWP. These notable outerwear featured silhouettes that were grazing on the oversized floor that enveloped the wearer in gorgeous warmth. Made from luxurious, rich textures and decorated with rustic tones reminiscent of a classic autumn colour palette, this coat style features eye-catching centerpieces that catch the eye of the ensemble and charming addition to the depth of the outfit. It acts as a layer.
