If you’re like me, the search for plus size jeans can sometimes feel like an epic adventure. Finding the perfect pair of jeans can feel as difficult as climbing a mountain in a hailstorm. But don’t worry, you’re not alone! Let me share some handy shopping tips for plus size women, with a particular focus on jeans, because every woman deserves to own a great pair of jeans!

6 tips for getting the perfect plus size jeans

1. Accept the challenge

Before we get to the tips, let’s talk about the everyday struggles we face when shopping for plus-size jeans. First, sizing can vary wildly from brand to brand. A size 18 in one store can feel like a size 14 in another, which is frustrating, especially when comparing junior plus sizes to women’s sizes. Then there’s the issue of fit: many jeans just don’t fit our beautiful curves – they’re open at the waist, constricting around the thighs, or not roomy enough in the butt.

Another big problem is limited selection. Many brands stick to the same classic styles and washes, which can quickly become monotonous. For shoppers looking for something new, it can quickly become frustrating. Last time I checked, our money was green, too!

2. Support specialty stores

It’s a good idea to look at stores and brands that specialize in plus-size clothing, as they understand our body types and know how to provide clothes that fit our body types. Elokey and Ardent There are often stylish options out there that are designed with us in mind. Don’t settle for retailers who add extra fabric to straight size designs and call them “plus” – you deserve better!

3. Know your size

It’s very helpful to know your size before you go out shopping. Get out your tape measure. Measure your waist, hips, and inseam. Write it down and carry it in your bag. That way, you can refer to the brand’s size chart when you’re shopping. It’s also a good idea to try on a few sizes. Sometimes a size up or down can make a big difference.

4. Style Considerations

When it comes to style, don’t be afraid to try different cuts. Bootcuts, high waists, and wide legs often accentuate plus-size figures. High-waisted jeans offer support and a smooth silhouette, while bootcut styles flatter your figure. Don’t forget to try trendy styles like baggy distressed jeans or baggy cargo jeans; they may add a trendy vibe that you don’t think suits you.

5. Fabric matters

Be sure to pay attention to the fabric! Look for jeans with some stretch, it will make all the difference in comfort. Denim with elastane or spandex blends will fit better and allow for more movement. This is entirely personal preference, but it’s something to consider as non-stretchy denim can be uncomfortable and difficult to find a good fit.

6. Don’t skip the fitting room

Don’t be afraid to try them on. The fitting room is your best friend. It’s the only way to know if plus size jeans really fit your body. Remember, sizes are just numbers. You want something that feels good and looks great on you. Take your time, don’t rush, and be sure to check the rearview mirror.

As you can see, finding the perfect plus size jeans doesn’t have to be a daunting task. With these tips and a little patience, you’re sure to find the perfect pair of jeans that will make you feel as great as you do. Remember, it’s all about finding what works best for your body!
