Sony Pictures Television announced Friday that Netflix has acquired U.S. rights. Lord of the FliesA new limited series created by Jack Thorne, known for his work. puberty. The series is an adaptation of William Golding’s classic novel of the same name.
The show’s synopsis explains, “When a group of boys crash-lands on a deserted island, their fight for survival spirals into something even darker.”
In the UK, the BBC broadcast the series and released a trailer. Set in the 1950s, the story begins when a plane crash leaves a group of schoolboys stranded on a remote island in the Pacific Ocean. With no adults around, two young boys, Ralph (Winston Sawyer) and Jack (Rocks Pratt), emerge as leaders. As chaos ensues, the boys’ innocence is undermined, and their attempts to remain civil lead to chaos and tragedy. The synopsis reads: “Led by Ralph and supported by the intelligent Piggy, the boys try to keep the organization together, but Jack, the head of the Red Smoke, is obsessed with hunting and power, and gradually draws the boys away from hope and into darkness.”
The cast also includes David McKenna as Piggy, Ike Talbutt as Simon, Thomas Connor as Roger, Noah as Sam, Cassius Fleming as Eric, Cornelius Brandreth as Maurice, and Tom Page-Turner as Bill.
