It was launched two years later in 1914. titanic sank into the North Atlantic, Britannic Many safety improvements have been made. Waterproof compartments were strengthened, the number of lifeboats increased, and ventilation and evacuation routes improved. These improvements were successful because Britannic In 1916, she struck a German naval mine and subsequently sank near the Greek island of Kea. Of the 1,066 people on board, most were able to escape in lifeboats, but only 30 ultimately lost their lives. (An estimated 1,500 people died in this accident) titanic.)
