Raising a child while loving science and wanting to be like Richard Feynman, Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, or many other famous scientists in history, they have a decent chance. Luckily for them, they have yet to learn that such career pursuits almost certainly involve crushing doctoral thesis. However, it is also fortunate for you that they do not ask you to explain the subject of their idol’s paper. I might tell them about quantum electrodynamics, radiation, and even the theory of relativity, but what can I remember? “The Principles of Minimum Action in Quantum Mechanics” “Research on radioactive materials” or “Eine Neue Bestimmung Dermoleküldimensionen”?

Perhaps “recall” is not a word at all. But if you want to get these papers that make up an important part of the research foundation that ultimately makes their authors famous, you can do much worse than starting with an explanation of science Youtuber Toby Hendy. In recent years, she built a constant audience on her channel. tibiashe occasionally reached out to the archives and pulled out doctoral thesis of famous scientists.

We assembled all the videos from that series into that series The above playlistwhich also includes Hendy’s account of the paper, written primarily by numbers unknown to the public for their research. Carl Sagan and Neil DeGras Tysonand Brian Cox (Not a physicist, Inheritance Starr), the media work has encouraged generations of fans to enter science.

A young woman, Hendy has mastered traditional educational techniques, including drawing transparency on overhead projectors. Her calmness and clarity (not to mention her willingness to admit when she is struggling with the material) made her surely ranked one of our favorite teachers. Whether or not they will earn a doctorate of science is, of course, it leads to their own tendencies and efforts. Like many young people these days, they may eventually be taken away from their strong desire to be YouTubers – after all, it’s Hendy Stop your PhD.
