If you’re like me, you will spend your life avoiding thinking about your feet. There’s nothing for foot fetishists. I don’t know. I only think about my feet when they get hurt.
This is a short documentary about Becky Hunter. Bound unboundintrigued me. Like most curious people, I am often fascinated by the charms of others. Hunter’s obsessions are counterintuitive to me, which makes them interesting. As a result, I was spiraling about my feet for the last few days, how I handled them, looking at shoe designs in general, wondering if I came here.
The answer seems to be the usual: capitalism. but, Bound unbound It’s not so much about why capitalism hurts us more than simply arguing. We wear the wrong shoes.
Hunter and her camera Larson, Mikey Corker and Marianne Williams explain in-depth interviews and statistics, the history of shoes and their design, and how our culture is too difficult for our Beausie’s, especially our feet. It is partly a gender issue, with women requiring nine times more foot surgery than men. The female heels have been exposed as torture devices for a long time, and they hold back for their beauty.
This is the idea that actress and barefoot enthusiast Tati Gabriel doesn’t understand. Gabriel is one of the 12 women that Hunters talk about their feet in order to make us think about how we treat them and, in turn, treat ourselves. This is the message that even among us who believe it, we need to remind ourselves occasionally.
But then Hunter states that tennis shoes have heels. Of course I knew that these were harmful either, never happened to me. It’s one of those things you know the facts but have never connected them. That moment is one of a few that suggests the hunter’s desire to make Bound unbound It’s not a short one, but a functional documentary.
Still, given the short runtime, Hunter cleverly presents a lot of information, from the history of the heels of early military uniforms to learning that cushioned shoes cause 123% more accidents than non-cushioned shoes.
The most prominent voice next to Gabriel is Nina Harris, a podiatrist who begs women and men to treat their feet better. Foot health extends to the rest of your body and reminds you that you are trying to tell them something if your feet hurt. It makes us realize that capitalism and modern labor culture often hurt our bodies for the benefit of others.
Harris describes “avoidance,” a natural movement of the foot. When walking or running, the feet are intended to roll inward when only impacted. This will allow the power of effect to spread throughout. Think about how modern shoes can crush your toes, or how your heels can turn your arch upwards unnaturally. They force their toes to bear the brunt of the impact, and get ideas about what Hunter and Harris are driving.
Style Bound unbound teeth How a documentary goes under your skin. Hunter talks to women from different races and classes. From famous chef Radi Delvukia-Shetty to ordinary women, Hunters strive to make conversations as rich and layered as possible. But it doesn’t feel like a series of talking heads, Bound unbound It feels like a collective interrogation of Shoewear. Bound unbound It doesn’t feel as much like a documentary as the community moves forward and shares life-long experiences. As a result, the documentary feels like an active conversation with Hunter editing back and forth between different women, urging the other person’s opinions with anecdote and statistically based facts..
Bound unbound From the actions of Chinese women, we make our legs look cute and petite. The brief moment the documentary touches on is how women are culturally pressured, small and threatening. Compared to other moments in the document, these get a short reduction. Again, Hunter feels like she wants to say, but shortens it in favor of other items. It’s understandable that this feels like an old hat in comparison, so Hunter will instead use it as a wide-angle lens.
Hunter documentaries are female-centric for good reason. She tries to show that beauty standards often harm women rather than empower them. A good stance to take when you live in the world with a multi-million dollar beauty brand that strives to be beautiful rather than 24/7.
But beyond that, there is the concept that footwear affects men and women. The condition for cushioned shoes was reconsidered the shoe selection when I realized I had chosen them accurately for the cushioned sole. Bound unbound It’s like a documentary that you can get inside your head if you’re not careful. You’re watching the movie for a minute, and your eyes drift all the way to the characters’ feet, and I wonder how much their feet are killing them. Of course, this makes me realize that I’ve never drawn a character’s feet before. Deep Space Nine or Star Trek. Why does Captain Marvel have heels in her space costume in the MCU movie?
I’m sure it’s not the question that Hunter had in mind when she made it. Bound unbound. But maybe they were. either way, Bound unbound It does a great job of thinking about the subject more than you probably have. Even if it left you, there was more time to go into detail.
