Many Catholics wear brown shoulder blades at some point in their lives. Some of those people stopped wearing it for some reason. Others continue to wear it, but perhaps they will not appreciate its true depth as a sign of consecration to Mary. What is less well known is the fact that the shoulder blades are a miniature version of the Carmelite custom (which itself is our Virgin custom). Those who wear it are back to the Prophet Elijah and are part of the Carmelite family!
In this show, Carmelite monk Justin Sinnante explains the origins and dimensions of the scapula and Carmelites, as well as the commitments associated with them. Whether you wear a shoulder blade, or not previously, or have never been registered, this episode gives you many reasons to love the clothing of grace.
