Mehan’s somewhat interesting mythical mammal
(M5) is a book of poetry intended as an introduction to liberal arts for children, and helps them grow in the art of self-knowledge, virtue and charity rhetoric. It is written in the ancient form of the F Tale of the Beast, with 26 alphabetical poems by Matthew Mehan, respectively, accompanied by a beautiful oil painting by John Foley. In this interview, Matthew discusses the book, the role of poetry in aesthetic, moral and spiritual education, and the lost social art of memorizing and reciting poetry.
