DC Schindler, one of the greatest philosophers working today, returns to the Catholic Culture Podcast to discuss his latest book, God and the City: An Essay on Political Metaphysics. Schindler draws a parallel between metaphysics, as the most comprehensive science in a system of theory, and politics, as the most comprehensive science in a system of practice. Examining how in metaphysics God is necessarily involved but not the direct subject of that science, Schindler argues that the same is true of the relationship between God and politics. Just as God is the supreme good of human society and is deeply present in it, even before the advent of revelation and grace, so too is God in whom each human being “lives, moves, and has his being.”
