Mark Christopher Blunt returns to the show to talk about his latest album. joybased on the structure of the rosary. It features the family choir of Mark and his three daughters, with Mark’s piano accompaniment.
Mark began composing the song in the mid-1990s, when his first daughter was just born, without even knowing who would sing it. On the eve of the new millennium, he decided to take a break from his career as a jazz pianist in order to focus on his family and his spiritual life. In 2021, by the most amazing and unexpected providence, Mark’s selfless loyalty to God and family was rewarded a hundredfold by making an album with his children.
In addition to the album itself (the songs you can hear in the episode), topics covered include:
- Why artists should attribute inspiration to God
- How Mark taught his daughters musical acumen
- Anointing the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary with Music
- A spiritual perspective on “artist block”
