In 2012, the Chip Theory Game came out of the gate with an all-new Gladiator title. Hoplomachus:The rise of Romefollowed by that Lost City And there are many extensions to titles that will help you put chip theory on the map. Ten years later, they recreated the best parts of these releases Hoplomachus: Remastered, All of them were combined into one new premium package that reflects how much the Chip Theory team has learned since the original game was announced. I missed those games and didn’t know much about chip theory outside their really cool booths at conventions for a long time, but finally got the opportunity to change it.

If, like me, this is your first time using a chip theory title, you’ll notice a rather unique production choice that they make in their game. The company’s entirety is a “premium” board game that appears in two ways. First and foremost, it is a piece that gives the company a name. It’s a chip. Instead of tokens, maple, mini or other standard markers, Chip theory essentially uses ultra-high quality poker chips instead. They are thick, feel good in the hands, and are big enough to convey the right amount of information to each one. These chips are packed quickly and easily, and are great examples of how “premium” doesn’t necessarily mean “a loud cry of plastic.”
Other big “premium” aspects of the chip theory game Hoplomachus It’s a play mat. Instead of traditional cardboard play areas, they use neoprene mats – the type or the type to use for mouse pads A collection of magic play. Spillage resistant, easy to roll up, and very well printed, these are great base components that most other companies offer as deluxe edition offerings at best. One downside to this is that it makes the game much heavier than expected. Not so bad for such a small game Hoplomachus But something like them Elder’s scroll The title weighs 1 ton.
whole Hoplomachus: Remastered It looks and feels great. It doesn’t necessarily stand out in the way you turn your head, but the illustrations are amazing and the rough, disorderly alternative world it creates is well-realized. You’ll see that they put a lot of work there that reflects at every level (including price tags).
How’s the play?

The core Hoplomachus: Remastered, It’s a simple skirmish game. Select a fact and then pit the unit against other players. Each unit has its own movements, attacks, range of attacks, and special skills that can be used strategically. Combat occurs when you get range of another unit and is done by rolling the dice, counting hits, and deleting HP as needed until the unit is removed. There are also non-unit scaffolding and tactics that can be applied to shape the battlefield with permanent or temporary buffs. If you play something like Unparalleled or D&D: Onslaught You know what’s going on here.

The game’s really cool mechanics that perfectly reflect the theme are the favours of the crowd. This is a game about gladiators, Hoplomachus: Remastered Take actions that make the crowd happy and make you more effective in the arena. By moving along the track with favor, you can activate heroes, heal units, and acquire new heroes. The two arenas each have their own tracks, and planning around the crowd is an important part of the game’s strategy.
Big things to learn Hoplomachus It is a game mode, and for solo players, there are two modes to use: Onslaught and Ascension.
Onslaught

Onslaught mode can be played solo or cooperatively with two players and is based on the Potzolio (the real Flavian Amphitheater in Naples. In this narrow arena, you may fight Rush of your friends and sometimes friends. Defeat one immortal, play until a new immortal unfolds, and the units are gone and confiscated.
Onslaught Mode While a very unique way to turn normal skirmish battles into more puzzles, you retain the feeling that you are a gladiator fighting exotic monsters. Everyone loves Horde mode and isn’t too overwhelming, but you’ll find yourself scrambling over time.
rise

The ascension mode takes place in the classic Roman Colossier. This is a much larger and more open field of fighting than Pottsroy. In Ascension Mode, you’re playing against a very powerful Titan, not just the Roman Pantheon. The Roman god Mars has been joined by more global mythological characters, such as King of the Monkeys, Silse and Scheherazade. Each of them has its own units, its own units, and various abilities, aimed at making the time (or cooperative buds) a nightmare. If Onslaught is a game of attrition and management, Ascension is a test of your wisdom. Like a fight with a good boss, these Titans are just as puzzles as battles. You need to deal with their debris and grind them out as efficiently as possible.

verdict?
meanwhile Hoplomachus: Remastered It’s not just a purely solo experience like a sister/spinoff victorum, There’s still a strong bone like a strategy game, and you can enjoy puzzles and plan as much as you can with friends as you can. And frankly, the premium price range for games like this (heavy $129.95) means that player counting flexibility is a big selling point. But thanks to perfectly crafted components, different gameplay, and some of the best art you find in today’s board games, you’re getting a lot for what you pay for. This is a particularly good game for people who may feel a bit burned out in the game Unparalleled (I love it) There’s more variety here, so there’s more depth to movement and strategy, rather than becoming a full Wargame.
You can grab Hoplomachus: Remastered From the Chip Theory Store.
