Sol LeWitt: The Location of Lines at Cristea Roberts Gallery

Line Position: Sol LeWitt Prints 1970–2005 will be held at Christea Roberts Gallery from March 6th to April 16th, 2026, and will be the first London exhibition dedicated to American artists in eight years. This exhibition brings together more than 20 prints spanning 30 years and focuses on the medium that was central to LeWitt’s practice.

Although LeWitt is widely associated with wall paintings and modular cubic structures, printmaking played an important role in the development of his ideas. From 1970 onwards, he employed techniques such as woodcuts, screenprints, linocuts, and etchings, using repetition and variation to test the expressive possibilities of line and color. Throughout his career, he has produced nearly 300 edited print projects, extending the logic of his conceptual approach into highly collaborative graphic works.

This exhibition highlights how these prints were not secondary to his better-known installations, but were integral to his teaching and exploration of continuity.
