RPG developer Owlcat Games has Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteousand Pathfinder: Kingmakerhas announced its ambitions to become a publisher. Going forward, alongside its development activities, Owlcat will focus on helping independent teams around the world introduce their unique RPGs and narrative-driven games to players. Owlcat wants to ensure that its new partners have all the services, funding, and expert advice they need to create new role-playing experiences.
“We want to work with teams that share our passion for telling compelling stories through narrative-driven games. These teams may not be entirely in the RPG genre, but they will definitely have a firm focus on story, characters, and world-building. We’ve already been down the path to creating our dream game, and now we have the expertise and resources to lead other teams to the game of their dreams,” said Andrey Tsvetkov, Head of Publishing at Owlcat Games.
After reviewing over 50 projects, Owlcat signed on with two talented development teams: Serbia-based Emotion Spark Studio and Poland-based Another Angle Games.
Emotion Spark Studio is a narrative RPG ” Loup ValleyThis is a story about a man who gets trapped in a mysterious time loop during a psychotherapy session. While dealing with psychological challenges, the protagonist must rise from the abyss and delve into the anomalous phenomenon to uncover its mysterious origins.
Another Angle Games is creating an isometric RPG set in feudal Japan. Road ShadowSet in a world filled with magical spirits and deadly steampunk technology, the game combines an immersive story about samurai, honor and loyalty with a deep, tactical turn-based combat system.
Both titles are still in the early stages of development, with more information expected to be announced at gamescom later this month.
Owlcat Games has also gained full control of the publishing label META Publishing, acting as publishing partner. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous It will hit PC and console stores in 2021. META Publishing has a unique strategy, focusing on gameplay-heavy titles with cooperative multiplayer features.
The label has a solid portfolio of released games such as: Bipedal, Island Spirit, Train Valley, Train Valley 2 New titles from META Publishing’s portfolio set to be announced at gamescom later this month include: Bipedal 2The sequel to the 2020 hit puzzle action adventure game, Nested LandsA new game from Brazilian studio 1M Bits Horde.
