Fans have been sought more puppies for over 20 years, but ultimately it’s official. Follow-up of the band in 2001 We love lifecalled moreJune 6th, is now available through the new label home, Rough Trade. “Spike Island”one of several new songs they’ve been playing on tours is out today. “Dead in my truck/I was heading towards disaster, and then I came back,” sings Jarvis Cocker. “The universe shrugged and shrugged and moved.” Check it out and find the album cover and set list below.

more It was recorded in November 2024 at ORBB Studios in London for three weeks with producer James Ford. “This is the shortest time it took a pulp album to ever record,” Jarvis Cocker said in a statement. “It was obviously ready to happen.”

Regarding the video for “Spike Island,” Cocker said:

Someone was told they were interested in researching AI, did you have any ideas?

The first idea I had was to animate a photo that Rankin & Donald put into different classes. After all, in 1995 they were “artificial” ways to put us into reality and complete the album cover. There’s nothing easy.

It was my first idea to create a “created” video that shows how a photo is taken, but as soon as I fed the AI app with the first shot, I realized that it wouldn’t happen. So I decided to “go on flow” and saw where the computer had led me.

All the moving images featured in the video are the result of me feeding the still image and typing a “prompt” like this:

The weekend when I started working in video was a strange time. I left the house and continued to expect strange changes in my surroundings due to the images my computer was generating. This experience marked me. I don’t know if I’ve recovered yet…

Thank you to Julian House’s expert post-production work and Rankin & Donald Milne. As stated in the text at the end of the video, I think what I did for pulp in 1995 was “the best human intelligence.”

My last thought? Hello forever!

Discussing the new album, Cocker continued:

This is the first pulp album since 2001’s “We Love Life.” Yes: The first pulp album of 24 years.

How did that happen?

Well: When we started touring again in 2023, we practiced a new song called “hymns of hymns” during our soundcheck, and eventually performed at the end of our second night at Sheffield Arena. This looked like Floodgates was open. I came up with the rest of the songs from this album in the first half of 2024. Couples are the revival of ideas from the last century. The music for one song was written by Richard Hawley. Another music was written by Jason Buckle. The Eno Family sings backing vocals in songs. It has an arrangement of strings written by Richard Jones and played by Elysian Collective.

The album was recorded over three weeks by James Ford in Walthamstow, London from November 18, 2024. This is the shortest time a pulp album has ever recorded. It was obviously ready to happen.

These are facts.

We hope you enjoy the music. It was written and performed by four people in the northern part of England and betted by five other people from various parts of the British Isles. There is no AI involved during the process.

This album is dedicated to Steve Mackie.

This is the best we can do.

Thank you for listening.
