The series follows a team of hackers throughout the rest of the broken country on robbery on the company responsible for social disruption. This psychological horror podcast is based on the technology commonly used in horror films to build tension and suspense. The way this series concludes is evidence of how incredible this team is, but this series is perfect for regenerating.

The Electric State RPG is a rule light and uses a D6 dice pool with Free League’s Year Zero Engine. Maia is faithful to the rules system, faithful to lore and place, and depicts very accurately how the system is played. Some of the main mechanics include the tension between the character and his hopes. Players carefully describe the tension mechanics and completely commit to the worst parts of these characters to drive their stories. The connections between the characters contribute to the struggles they face, while keeping them together.
Welcome to the Southern Republic
In the 1970s, the Civil War tore the United States apart, and the Southern Republic (Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma) considers itself a true remnant of the United States. The groundbreaking technology developed for pilot drones in the war was redeveloped for public consumption. Neurocuster is a personal computer that connects directly to your brain and the neuroscopy. I multiplied 1,000 on something like VR chat. The company’s Centre, a neurologist, holds a great deal of power over Pacifica (which was once California), and its influence has spread across the border into the Southern Republic.
The Operation Firewall is set in Austin, Texas in the 1990s. A company called Happy Cool has developed neurologists for children, using it not only for recreation but also for education. Children are the most vulnerable to neurologist addiction, and now they plug in most of the day.
The series begins with an overwhelming rehabilitation facility and an exhausted nurse. We learn that more and more children are succumbing to neuroscience addiction. Daniel’s daughter Julia is one of the worst of them, preferring to escape deep into the lens of a neurologist rather than making friends.
The despair to heal his daughter was reinforced with the guilt of his affiliation with the company that helped put her there, and he accepted the job to stop their latest updates. With driver Vincent already in employed, Daniel brings together hacker Emma Jane and demolition specialist Elias. The mission is to “invade Happy Cool’s latest neurotechnology project, uncover hidden dangers of nerve implants and shut down before they can consume generations.” – from Mya Game Room Website explanation.
Once the team is organized neatly, you can get a final glimpse of the Southern Republic and their respective characters returning. Each scene gives a glimpse of the community beginning to lose grip. Even as the team starts driving, we see the bonds joining together begin to flake.
The team leaves Austin and goes deeper into Pacifica across the border. It doesn’t take long for the scenery to change from a small town to a wild wild of mysterious mechanical horror. The remains of humanity they scatter find their claws in their sanity and the rest of their tears.
Before you dive, Season 2 comes with a three-optional Prelude episode introducing the characters. These episodes give you the opportunity to learn about characters outside of the group and peel off the curtains of the world around you.
Crew
That’s what the show’s game masters and editors are Mya (my-ee-uh). What stands out about Maia as a game master makes the world feel so rich and concrete. The effective storytelling device of horror is juxtaposition. Maia paints pictures of Southern families and communities, but breaks them down to reveal the dark sides that can happen to the community and family in times of despair. One of the stars of this show is the editing. Carefully placed sound effects and atmosphere are missed if you haven’t heard it with full surround sound headphones. Maia also knows the importance of giving a breathing chamber between scenes, as she offers a fade to black audio version so that listeners can breathe mentally.
Vincent Aldocci performs arcturusa player who will be returning from season 1. Like a straight scene in Fast and Furious, we find Vincent in his car and ready for street racing with money on the line. Luckily for him, he knows people are underestimating him. Vincent is described as a group adhesive by the cast. We are introduced to Vincent and his brother Luther through distant memories of his childhood. They sneak out of the house, and his father still connected to his neurocaster and brought a late-night excursion to the lake on a stolen fishing boat. Vincent is employed by Daniel as a driver and is one of the few people Daniel trusts in the success of their mission. Vincent brings his dog Ronda.
Daniel Collins performs Todd. In the Prelude episode, Daniel and Emma Jane are found watching Daniel’s daughter Julia on the playground. Julia is in a rehabilitation facility to help her addiction to neurocasters. After getting screwed up with his former employer, Centre, Daniel is tasked with bringing together groups to run the operational firewall. The Sentre is responsible for addictive neurologists and is the target of group manipulation.
Emma Jane Collier performs Meganother return player from season 1. Emma Jane is employed as a master glyfter with the ability to gather information. In the Prelude episode, we see that Emma Jane is not the one who does anything that doesn’t benefit her. She finds familiarity while watching Daniel’s daughter play on the playground and knows exactly what it’s like to be engrossed in a substance called Newlyn. This substance continues this timeline and is used in neural techniques that can create hallucination experiences. Emma Jane is less interested in the job and is more interested in the leverage she can use to her advantages.
Elias Bonnie performs Michael. Elias was a dismantler with a stable hand and was hired in case the stealth mission didn’t work. In his Prelude episode, we meet Elias and his brothers, a family with deep connections to the community, and make sure that the equipment in the neighborhood is being repaired. We faded to black and returned to the melancholy scene a few years later. Elias is alone, his brother’s belongings remain untouched, and Elias’ temperament is squeezed into pieces.

Following the final episode of Operation Firewall, a real-life play of Electric State, there is a two-hour talkback discussing their own doubts and theories about what happens to the characters after a shocking conclusion. I also managed to get so many subtle hints I didn’t catch for the first time, which made my experience re-registered in the series very rewarding.
This real play left me with a desire to reach out to my community and do what I could to keep it up. Many of us rely heavily on our online community, so we need to make sure that there are people who can physically reach out to us.
