ambition, “Tales & Tactics TTRPG” by artist and designer Yani Panagiotopoulos (Successor of the Sword Majura) was released on Gamefound. With a fantastic new world and a unique magic system, ambition hopes to “meet the need for an introspective journey where the inner story shapes the outer story.”
ambition We offer three ways to play that shift based on where the character known as Ambitious is in the story. Tales is a mode of play that doesn’t follow any rules, facilitating the build-up of narrative tension until the story cascades into an engagement or a courtroom. A rules-oriented turn-based play mode. Engagements are arenas where tensions are resolved through violence on the battle map. The courtroom, on the other hand, is a clock-based system for social struggles to keep secrets and reveal truth, where tensions are resolved through manipulation, cunning, and subterfuge.
One player plays as River and the remaining players play as Ambitious. River moves the story forward, drawing cards from a tarot deck to divine the fate of the ambitious, and giving voice to the ambitious’s subconscious obsessions, obsessions, and advice. Ambitious controls the conscious actions of the characters, changing their fate with arcana and determining how they react to the voice of the river’s narration.
ambitionThe final manuscript will be approximately 500-600 pages in two volumes and will include a tarot deck. The Player Book (The Book of Changes) contains resources for creating and running characters. ambitionThree play modes, Grimoire, and ambitionworld and setting.
