My Morning Jacket announces new album: teeththe 2021 sequel. my morning jacketarriving March 21st A.T.O.. it is led by a single “The time I waited”accompanied by a video directed by Danny Clinch. Check it out below.
The new album will be the first MMJ LP not produced or co-produced by frontman Jim James. The band collaborated with Brendan O’Brien, known for his work with Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam, on the 10-track effort. “Up until now, I have not been able to let go and let someone else steer the ship,” James explained in a statement. “It felt almost like an out-of-body experience to take a step back and hand over control to someone who has far more track records than us and has made far more records than us, but in the end, we probably never have before. I was able to enjoy the process more than I had before.”
Commenting on “Time Waited,” James said, “I looped that piano intro and listened to it while I was walking, and all the melodies just came to me.” For a long time, I didn’t have lyrics. But then I had a dream that I was in a cafe and a song was playing. The lyrics from that song became the lyrics for “Time Waited.” The melody was a perfect fit. And the lyrics are about how flexible time is, how we can bend and distort it, especially if we follow our hearts, and the universe and time itself flows with us. It sings about being able to work. ”
