My Brightest Diamond Announces New Album ‘Fight the Real Terror’, Shares New Single

My Brightest Diamond, the project by New York singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Shara Nova, has announced a new album. Fighting real terrorismIn 2018 A million and oneOn September 13th Western VinylToday’s announcement coincides with the release of new single “Have You Ever Seen an Angel,” which can be heard below.

Speaking about the song, Nova said in a statement: “‘Have You Ever Seen An Angel’ is a reflection of some of the worst moments in my life, moments of great loss and shock, and moments that mattered and made me feel connected to something bigger than myself, that I felt supported, that I wasn’t alone even when I was alone.”

Nova began working on the album exactly one year ago, shortly after news of Sinead O’Connor’s death broke, and finished the songs on August 13, 2023. The title refers to O’Connor’s claim in her iconic hit song, “Fighting the Real Enemy.” SNL performance. “Fighting real terrorism “It’s a question about activism and looking at our vulnerabilities,” Nova explained. “I’m not offering answers, just a glimpse into these reflections. Writing the songs quickly and without orchestration forced me to stay in the moment and focus on structure over embellishment. I wrote and recorded one song a day in my home studio, and Tom Schick and I wanted to stay with the first draft and get close to the unfinished emotion, rather than going back and working on tweaks.”
