Two of pop’s most uplifting voices, Max and Andy Grammer, have joined forces for a collaboration that’s pure sunshine. Their new single, “The Thing I Love,” has been released and combines the emotional honesty and infectious feel-good energy that both artists have built their careers on.
The song was co-written by MAX, Jake Tolley (Justin Bieber, Charlie Puth), and Johnny Simpson (OneRepublic, Jonas Brothers), who also produced “The Thing I Love.” This work is a warm, sparkling ode to those who make us better. Built around the touching refrain, “What I love about me is you,” the song celebrates connections, romantic, platonic, or any other form.
Musically, the song is a breezy, radio-friendly pop gem that layers fingerpicked acoustic guitar, piano, tambourine, and lush harmonies into a bright, intimate soundscape that perfectly showcases the duo’s charismatic vocals.
“‘The Thing I Love’ is a really special song to me,” Max said. “Personally, there are so many people in my life who bring out the best in me and make me better. This song is dedicated to them. It’s such an honor and privilege to have my long-time friend and amazing artist Andy Grammer with me.”
Grammer echoed this sentiment, saying:
“I’ve always admired MAX’s artistry and creative spirit, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate on this song. It’s a very upbeat song, and we had a lot of fun bringing it to life.”
Multi-platinum recording artist MAX has become one of pop’s most unique voices, amassing more than 3 billion streams worldwide. His smash hit “Lights Down Low” became a triple platinum sensation, peaking at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and dominating pop radio’s Airplay and Shazam charts.
His 2024 album “LOVE IN STEREO” further expanded on that tradition with the platinum-certified hit “Butterflies” featuring Ali Gaety and the fan favorite “Stupid in Love” with LE SSERAFIM’s Heo Yoon-jin. The album topped viral charts in over 20 countries and continues MAX’s mission of championing authenticity and self-expression, most recently seen in the viral track “LOVE INSANE” with ENHYPEN’s JAY.
Andy Grammer has long been pop’s resident optimist, an artist whose catalog is filled with hope, honesty, and emotional resilience. With over 3 billion streams and nearly 5 million social media followers, he has built a strong career rooted in connection.
His hits include the five-time platinum smash hit “Honey, I’m Good,” the two-time platinum favorites “Keep Your Head Up,” “Fresh Eyes,” and “Don’t Give Up on Me,” as well as the platinum singles “Good to Be Alive (Hallelujah)” and “Fine By Me.”
His recent deluxe edition, Monster (via S-Curve/Hollywood Records), showcases some of his most personal songwriting to date, a mandolin-infused indie-pop exploration of family, joy, vulnerability, and self-acceptance.
