Jute himself has more personal interests in society. As a grown-up boy, he and his father will go on a camping trip in the Elkhorn Mountains. As they embark on their adventures, strange events begin to occur. Some challenge their perception of reality and blur the lines of truth. Chromely’s story is eerie and sometimes comic, weaving stories that explore both human and nature itself, sadness, friendship and the mysteries of nature. The characters bring emotional depth to the story, making them more character-driven with a touch of supernatural and inexplicable. As the story progresses, each of our characters learns something about the wilderness, itself, and the ideas of personal beliefs.

I had a great time with this novel. It definitely wasn’t what I was expecting in the beginning, but I really grew up caring for the characters and things they kept secret. Why, and they finally became clear.

He was a recipient of the Artist Fellowship for the Illinois Council of Arts and a bookend fellow at Stony Brook University.
