At the Immigration Center, Perfidia meets the evil captain of Steven Lockjaw, a character that is widely painted like his name. Sean Penn later bullies and threatens her, thoroughly persuading her as a sexual creep who admits she is attracted to her because she is black. Perfidia quickly becomes underground and abandons Bob and his baby. It is enough to say here that her poor name suggests a duplicate.
The opening sequence is stunning, but the film really takes off, the comedy comes when the story flies 16 years ago and the comedy arrives when it lands at Bob’s little house. As he showed in Catch Me (2002), Dicaprio has more comedic talent than he is known. He is Bob’s goofy and creates a shady lifestyle – watching the political film The Battle of Algiers (1966) on TV – which is interesting in itself. But DiCaprio also displays Bob’s intense love for his daughter Willa (the calm and confident chase Infinity), with just a few touches. It’s the sweet way he calls her “honey,” and Anderson captures his eyes in a close-up. With all his wits, Anderson is a chilly, brain filmmaker and becomes DiCaprio’s emotional warmth in the balance of his roles.
Something like this:
Lost Bus is a “fascinating” wildfire drama
• The power of Stephen King’s most disturbing novels
• Dynamite House: “More scary than horror”
Drama and comedy coexist with amazingly renowned ease of use here. One plot in which Anderson is very well woven is Rockjoe’s attempt to join the Christmas Adventures Club, a secret society of white supremacists. This is the ultimate hypocrisy given his old obsession. Anderson makes the organization scary and ridiculously interesting. A group of rich white men (Tony Goldwyn plays one of its leaders) claims they are “good people.” His membership bid led Lockjoe and sent militias to the Bob town of Bactancross, closing the immigrants as an excuse to find Bob and Willa. The mysterious soldiers are unidentified, and there is no official insignia about their fatigue, a touch that only makes them more ominous.
The stupid and tragic mix also when Willa is filmed, with Bob forgetting the password needed to get help from his old radical group, the current underground. DiCaprio is in his comics through the nightmare of Bob trying to find her, enlisting her karate teacher and being constantly called the Teacher (Benicio del Toro). The teacher combines Bob with lace and lace to save immigrants from the attacks by Rockjoe’s army. The raid resonates with current events more than it actually fits into the film, but Anderson and the actors make it work.
I’ll fight one after another
Director: Paul Thomas Anderson
Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infinity
Release date: September 26th
All this makes you feel like you’re chasing up and down the hills and riding a roller coaster in a vast, desolate desert landscape. Filmed on Widescreen Vista Vision, the film has an epic feel, whether it portrays a large military helicopter landing or a Ram Shackle Street in Bactan Cross.
