Mystic mutants go on a demon hunt in their own series! X-Man Illyana Rasputina strikes out on her own with new allies and dark forces. Something ancient has awakened beneath the ice of Alaska. Unfortunately, it’s now Magik territory.
“Illyana is a very interesting protagonist,” Allen said in the latest edition of AIPT’s X-Men Monday column. “She’s a woman with a dark past, but she didn’t let that stop her from doing good in the world. Her desire to leave the world a better place than it was before resonates with many of her fans. I think she calls people (myself included). Although she is sarcastic and has some obstacles, in the end she is a kind person who deeply loves her friends and family.”
“Since we’re talking about comics, it would be disrespectful not to also discuss the visual elements of storytelling,” Allen continued. “Illyana’s power set has so many great opportunities to create cool visual moments that she can really shine in her solo series, including her spells, her mutant ability to teleport through space and time, and of course , Soul Sword. Who doesn’t love a woman with a sword?”
