These days, the seasons are changing, Harvest: Autumn Festival!Keymaster Games’ first expansion harvest It’s a satisfying addition to what was one of the most fun games I’ve had. succeeded kick start last year, autumn festival Two new characters, one new location, and more ways to score are added to bring new challenges to players.
What’s inside the box?
Please remember. harvest Comes with tons of pieces to set up your town, all farming essentials for 1-4 players, and Mayor Gary pieces for solo and 2-player games. This expansion adds Francie the field springer, Finn and Maisie the field mice (played together), and the wooden animated eple. There are also 4 wooden baskets, a festival board, 15 pie cards, 15 novelty cards, 1 new sunrise tile, 2 new Gary tiles, scoring tiles for over 50 and 100 points, festival reminder tokens, and other solo challenges.
As with the base game, all the pieces are high quality and I really liked the art on the character cards and festival boards.
How about playing?
harvest is a worker placement game in which each player attempts to earn the most points by planting, tending, and harvesting crops in various ways by visiting general stores, fields, workshops, farmers markets, and trading posts (which can also be built on their own land). Players go back and forth between the three phases until three wheelbarrows are placed, and the full game is completed after four rounds.
In this expansion, players can also go to the festival with their basket and earn 2 coins to buy a festival card or perform a harvest action. As with other areas of the main board, there is space for any number of players to place their baskets. There you can buy 1 Autumn Festival Card or earn 1 Coin.

Two types of cards are available at the Autumn Festival. Pies give you endgame points with points depending on the type of pie you purchased (set collection!). Novelty cards give bonuses during the game, but can only be used once and must be discarded after use. If you don’t use them, you get 1 point per card at the end of the game.

Of course, there are new neighbors! Francie doesn’t have to pay for the Fall Festival card, but Finn and Maisie can only go twice. However, Finn doesn’t pay any coin costs for anything, and Maisie takes an additional action when she goes to a town location. Maisie is basically two of the three actions the player takes with other characters.
The rest of the game plays just like the original.
The verdict?
Expansions are very popular in board games, but I don’t get expansions regularly because I love the base game as is, but when I saw the Kickstarter… autumn festivalI really wanted to get my hands on it. I would have purchased it even if I had not been provided with a review copy. I love the challenge of playing with Francie, Finn, and Maisie. You might think that you can automatically win without spending money (as Francie at a festival, or as Finn…anywhere) or by taking two actions in a location, but that’s not the case. When my friend and I played this for the first time, we fully expected him to win with Finn and Maisie, but we actually focused on using the festival locations and harvest actions to our advantage and were able to score an extra 10 points.

harvest is already a lot of fun, especially when Gary gets in the way, and no two games are the same and it depends on which character you play as, but adding two new characters and locations really changes the game in ways that are definitely appealing. I plan to play with and without expansion pieces. If you liked the base game, think about it. Must get the extended version Available from the Keymaster website.
