frank zoo is a classic card game first published in 1999. It’s a simple game where you aim to remove cards from your hand, but cards can only be removed by cards placed by previous players. The game may feel like Great Dalmtior Tichu. This special version has lovely animal illustrations, making it easy for children to learn and play. My kids figured out how to play after one game and wanted to play again and again. frank zoo It is for 3-7 players, takes less than an hour to play, and is published by HeidelBÄR Games.
What’s inside the box?
- 60 animal cards
- 12 point cards
- 7 team cards
- 2 team play summary cards
How about playing?
Choose how you want to play: everyone on your own, or team mode where players team up and compete against other players.
Place point cards numbered from 2 to the number of players in the game on top. These are the points you earn by discarding all cards. The first person to do so wins the top card worth the most points.

All 60 cards are shuffled and dealt to the players so that all players have the same number of cards. Some players may have more cards than others, and that’s okay. That can happen with different numbers of players.
The first player takes the lead by placing one or more of the same species on the table. Clockwise, players must beat the number of cards that player has by playing the same species, but only one more than they actually have. Or you can outdo them by playing an equal number of cards, just the species shown at the top of the card. Almost every species has a specific species that outperforms them, and players keep playing cards to get rid of cards in their hand. If you can’t play, pass. If everyone passes and returns to the player who played the card, collect all the cards played so far and restart with the new lead card.

The player who plays all cards wins the top point card. There are some special cards that secretly allow you to play cards a little differently. Chameleons can be added to groups of cards because they are wild. That is, it functions in the same way as the species in which it is played. Mosquitoes can perform their own sets or imitate elephants and count as elephants.
Players who do not score points continue the round with the next round. After a certain number of rounds (for example, 3 or 5 rounds), the person with the most points at that point wins the game.
You can add team cards to play the game as a team and learn to work together and pass cards to do better in the game.

verdict
Overall, Frank’s Zoo is a classic game where you place seeds in a way that helps you remove a deck of cards the fastest and keep removing cards to keep winning. You could think of this game as a trick-taking game, but it’s not. Really It doesn’t matter how or where the card goes because you just try to get rid of it first.

The card has no number. Rather, you need to figure out how to use stronger or weaker species in the way you place your cards, but you may still have options when your turn comes back. There are multiple ways to play this game, deciding whether to place a particular species higher than the current one, or remove the same species and place one more card than the current set. This also makes it harder for subsequent players to have to play the same amount of cards from higher races.
Frank’s Zoo is a classic game that has been around since 1999 and has already been successful for 26 years, and it may continue to be successful as the system for defeating cards is not strictly linear, but some cards can be defeated with multiple different species, while others can only be defeated with a specific type. Killer whales are so powerful that no other species can beat them. So if you need to reset, play at least one Orca first to reset, then start the round with another card.

This is a good game for our children, very easy to learn and play. So kids will ask to play this over and over again.
