Folk Singer-Songwriter Lily DeTaeye Announces New Live Album Will Mark Her First Vinyl Pressing

Singer Songwriter Lily Detoey Today, her first live album, Studio 3 Live from PBS Iowashared the lead single “Maybe it’s November.”. The 14-track set captured at Studio 3 on Iowa PBS will arrive exclusively on vinyl on October 24th via Midtopia purchases before purchasing Midtopia.

“Maybe November” is called “a weary reflection on the darkness of the seasons and lost love.” Blessing. ” Detaeye sings through the mist of “waking up every day in the mist” and “time to get mad.” The explanation she gives to herself – it is just the beginning of winter – provides a hollow comfort compared to the true source of her sadness.

Studio 3 Live from PBS Iowa Detaeye presents in a different light than studio recordings, which tend to head towards a pristine heavenly atmosphere. Here she appears in a raw, unfulfilled appearance with Des Moines-based bands Chris Hansen (drums), Steph Graham (bass), and Brian Vanderpool (guitar). “We didn’t go to that performance because we thought we were going to release it as a live album,” Detaeye said. “In the end it became something we all really proud of. The song sounded so good and felt very cohesive.”

This release is her first Vinyl PressMade by a third-man pressed in Detroit. Detroit is a factory renowned for its craftsmanship and quality. It is a milestone that resonates deeply for Detaeye, who cares about tactile experiences as much as the sonic experiences. By purchasing before Stream’s vinyl first model, fans are invited to experience her music in the most communal form, with artwork, lyrical sheets and wax surrounded by rituals to listen together. “This is a vinyl-worthy set of songs,” she says.

Detaeye’s path is as idiosyncratic as her sounds. Press Clipping once described her as “the strange girl from your book club definitely has some corpses in her closet.” That eccentricity is carried out through her catalogue. There, the whimsical touches and flashes of magical realism are based on songs about everyday human quest for solitude, belonging, and connection. She began singing at 13 and busked at the farmers market in her native Des Moines. They released The 2017 EP and 2019 Bite Back, both of which were immersed in blues-influenced confidence. Her 2023 album, Hive Mind, expanded her world further, layering her sharp lyrics with dreamy textures. Now 27 years old and newly based in New York, she continues to grow into one of the most interesting independent voices of her generation.

According to Detaeye Studio 3 Live from PBS Iowa “Casual and community spaces – built for a slow Sunday morning morning, a patio smoke session, or an evening under the stars. They are relaxed, but stare at the outwards with curiosity, clutching the intimacy of the adjacent porch hang.”

Ahead of the album’s release, will Detaeye bring her songs to the road on a date in September, including Boone Songwriters Festival in North Carolina (9/12–13), Cafe Wha? New York City (9/27) and Atmageddon in Brooklyn (9/28).
