Florist’s Emily A. Sprague has released a new ambient album. Cloud TimeIt is scheduled to be released on October 10th. The album’s bright opening track, “Tokyo 1,” is currently on sale. Please check below.
Sprague recorded Cloud Time While touring Japan last year, I took inspiration from the Japanese environmental music philosophy of Yongaku. “When I started preparing for the tour, I couldn’t shake the sense that the invitation to Japan was about opening myself to this new place, rather than bringing something tightly under my control,” Sprague shared. “Improvisation exercises have always been such a pillar in my music practice and I really wanted to meet the country, space and people through the process.”
“It focuses on processes that I love everywhere, a clear channel of communication for the heart and emotions, and is deeply rooted for space, people within it, and myself. “My vision and hope is that this album can be released as a gift for those who were there or weren’t there.”
Sprague’s last solo album was in the 2020s Hills, flowers, fog. Florist released earlier this year Jerry Wish. I’ll be revisiting my 2022 interview with a florist.
