Exciting news for fans of high octane action: The sequel to Beekeeper Miramax has received an important update on its progress. The development arrived more than a year after the original film’s theatrical debut, raising over $162 million worldwide.
Indonesian director Tim Tyahunt took him to Instagram to announce that filming for Bee Keeper 2, starring Jason Statham, is officially ongoing. His post included photos of the clapperboard from the set, giving fans the first glimpse of the film’s new logo.
Tjahjanto works from scripts written by Kurt Wimmer and directs the project. Statham returns to the lead role, with Oscar winner Jeremy Irons rejecting his character, Wallace Westwild. The newcomer of the grown franchise Yara Shahidi is known for his grown-ups, but has been cast in roles wrapped in secret. Beyond acting, Statham also lined up with Wimmer and Chris Long as producers under his Punch Palace Production label. Amazon MGM Studios handles production and distribution, with Miramax providing funding.
Tjahjanto brings a wealth of experience in action filmmaking that directed Indonesian hits like 2016 Headshot, 2018 The Night Come for Us, 2022 The Big 4, and the recent The Shadow Strays. Just before that, he directed the director, a follow-up to the 2021 thriller starring Bob Odenkirk.
