This week’s featured player is definitely the Brotherhood of Steel, who follow Maximus’ new position in the hierarchy. Moldaver’s death seems to have elevated him to the elder Quintus’ current favorite status, giving him a level of respect and fascination that simply wasn’t there last season.
Maximus doesn’t seem to care much about that. It’s clear that he’s tired of the Brotherhood’s mission, but his relationship with his friend Dane is on the rocks, and his problems are exacerbated by the West Coast Brotherhood’s eagerness to toss Codex aside in search of more power.
Maximus’ brief time with Lucy had a lasting impact on how he saw the world. We find him grappling with the question of whether the Brotherhood has always been what he sees it now, or whether it is turning into something “worse” with the acquisition of cold fusion.
I love the direction fall out Because working with the Brotherhood is the direction Bethesda has taken this franchise since they acquired it. fallout 3. In that game, a splinter faction of the Brotherhood emerged in the Capital Wasteland, but they decided to rebel against the Brotherhood’s leadership, as they had rebelled against the mission Elder Lyons had originally been sent to the East. In New Vegas, the West Coast Brotherhood was greatly weakened by the war with the New California Republic, and this continued into season 1.
At best, it’s understandable to be annoyed that the Brotherhood is portrayed as a fundamentally stupid fraternity. Having them play with grenades, blow up cars, and treat Area 51 as a giant playground (shout out to Zetan when he gets thrown out of the icebox) is quite a change from what they’ve done so far. fall out I am drawing a group. Places like Area 51 would be filled with the kind of technology the Brotherhood was created to discover and preserve.
In my opinion, it works here because it shows how far off mission the Brotherhood is.
This episode also shows how strained diplomatic relations are between branches of the West Coast Brotherhood. The meeting of the elders shows the lesser leaders swarming together, jealous of the power they hold, and we learn that the knight who challenged Maximus to a duel pulls out a knife and is killed. They are bitter people who value only strength and seek it wherever they can find it.
With cold fusion in their hands, giving them considerably more power, it makes perfect sense that a resurgent West Coast would try to regain the power lost to Arthur Maxon’s more powerful East Coast faction, and after the East Coast Paladins arrive at the end of the episode, hostilities seem inevitable.
One of the big questions that comes out of this episode is how the East Coast learned of this meeting in the first place. Many have speculated that Dane told them, as they are clearly disillusioned with the group’s direction and are trying to recruit Maximus to the same beliefs. I hope Dain makes it through his next battle.
Whether Maximus joins Dane or escapes on his own, I can’t imagine him staying much longer. He is clearly miserable and disillusioned with the Brotherhood. A flashback to the Shady Sands bombing reaffirms how Maximus was raised to leave this world in a better shape than he found it, and how that mindset saved him from his parents. The character we met last season clearly believed the Brotherhood was on a mission to make the world a better place, but he no longer believes they do that. Not since I met Lucy.
Meanwhile, after Lucy chooses to help the Legion’s slaves and accompanies them back to their camp, her decision ends up unwittingly setting her on the path of a new faction (to the show).
fallout The Season 2 premiere portrayed Lucy and Ghoul’s relationship as rocky, albeit a battle of ideals, so it was interesting to see how easily their partnership dissolved when tested here. The two saw the world in completely different ways, and the brutality with which the ghouls meted out to the two Legion slaves clearly chilled Lucy to the bone.
I enjoy seeing Lucy’s worldview challenged by what she has been through and what she will go through, but she is the ultimate antithesis to the worldview of the worse people around her. she has a good playthrough fall out In this game, the protagonist is unleashed upon the world and has a transformative impact on the world around him. No wonder she chooses to save a slave who would surely die from Radoscorpion’s attack, rather than a ghoul who suffers for a while but is eventually okay.
What the ghouls are doing now is a more interesting question. He brought up the titular golden rule when Lucy abandoned him, suggesting that he would reciprocate Lucy’s decision not to save him, if not fully avenge her. We know he’s on his way back to the Cooper Howard he once was, but it’s going to be a longer, tougher journey with more setbacks.
As a result, I wonder if he will actually help Lucy escape from the Legion’s clutches. This will almost certainly be a turning point for Lucy. There, she may waver a little in her beliefs and end up seeing the world the same way a ghoul does, albeit temporarily.
Come to think of it, fall out We didn’t see much of the Corps this week, but they’ll almost certainly appear in the next episode. This is definitely the best hint yet about the canon ending. Fallout: New Vegas. The Legion is almost wiped out in the ending where the player is not on their side, but it is highly doubtful that “Legion Victory” is the direction Bethesda is aiming for. I’m sure they’ll thread the needle with as few canon-defining details as possible, but between the House and the Legion, it becomes nearly impossible to avoid the ending at all.
Finally, another faction is unleashed on Gnome’s wasteland, including the Vault-Tec middle management goons he unpacked at the end of the Season 2 premiere. The gnome continues to use his increased screen time and importance to bluff and bribe the denizens of Vault 31 into helping him escape with good old stock corporate motives.
(He also trashed Bud’s brain and hopefully ate the brain beforehand.)
I’m curious to see if Norm ends up calling himself Hank’s son, and if the name Hank MacLean means anything to the Vault 31ers. I also wonder where exactly Norm fits between Hank and his sister Lucy. Norm seems to have more verbal charisma than his sister, and was at least able to pass speech checks that Lucy cannot. He now has a group chasing him and will no doubt drive them back to the other two Vaults. Although calm in season 1, Norm clearly has an inner strength that shows itself more and more with each episode, which can result in him making decisions that Lucy wouldn’t.
I hope he’s closer to Lucy than Hank. That’s simply because we finally get to see the real Hank MacLean, the callous, badass man who gleefully sacrifices rats and special VIP executives in the name of getting Robert House’s job done.
Considering Hank’s multiple failed attempts with the mind control chip in this episode, I can’t help but have some questions about the Shady Sands bombing. The chipped mother who delivered the bomb did indeed die in the end, but he was also able to accomplish the mission in a way that Hank’s other subjects could not. Learning that one of those chips was used makes you wonder how Hank could have been involved, considering he doesn’t have them on hand and, judging by his frequent Mojave Nuclear Winter fanservice, the bomb’s “delivery guy” came from the Mojave.
The implication here is that Hank was in contact with House, or parts of House, while overseeing the Vault, and was unable to carry out the nuclear attack on Shady Sands on his own. fall out is hiding some cards here and I look forward to seeing them revealed. I expect Shady Sands to become the central moment of the entire show. fall out I will revisit it from various angles.
It’s another fascinating plot thread in a show that’s off to a strong start heading into its second season.
