New tools from One-Shot Podcast Network James D’Amato wants to introduce players into the process of creating worlds in fantasy TTRPGs using a new deck-based supplement for the Tabletop Roleplaying game.
The ultimate RPG world building deck A new tool published by Simon & Schuster, designed to help you “add deepen the world” or add additional backstory. The deck consists of 75 unique prompts that players or GMs can draw to stimulate new parts of the world.
For example, players can draw “union”. This encourages players/GMs to imagine fictional unions in the world. What is its strength? What is its weakness? Which industry does this association represent? How important is that in the world?
This is a set of unique questions that will help you imagine new unique features in the world that could trigger side quests, rivals, and even an entire campaign.
The WorldBuilding prompt is nothing new to TTRPG fans, but D’Amato’s approach is particularly useful as it utilizes the design approach from Apocalypse Games’ Powered. PBTA games require players to select a playbook for character creation for those who are not familiar with it. Certain parts of this include backstory elements. for example, This week’s monster (a Buffy/X File (Founded on monster hunting) is a professional playbook, government official. The Playbook asks the player to identify the agent and attach a set of characteristics. Perhaps the agency is very bureaucratic. Or perhaps it’s morally corrupt. These tags help shape the story through player decisions.
D’Amato told TTRPG Insider that the same tool was used on the card. By focusing on prompts and blanks, players have the options available to the approach they decide they want to use.
The tool is clear and clear, with cultural or situational details feeling fantastical or situational details, but can be used in most stories if DM or the player wishes. The cards are larger than the average playing cards, making them easier to read. It is also color coded in five categories: people, places, rumors, history and institutions. Each card offers two or three “options” that can help you season your concepts or turn conceptual gear. The tool is aimed at players and GMs, D’Amato told Fundamentals.

I felt the concept was a little too general, but I might appreciate some of the DMS. You may not use your deck to encourage new details Vampire at the Masquerade Ball For example, games. But I think such games are in the minority and are not appropriate.
If you want to provide a little feedback, I would like to make the digital form of this tool available. As someone who plays TTRPGS using VTT and mismatched servers, it would be good in certain situations as you can draw cards and go to random entries in PDFs.
