OK, so I know this is not really in our wheelhouse most of the time. Sports is something that vampires and X-Men commonly talk about when they play it. But it is now the NBA Finals, with two relatively small market teams competing for the first time, the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder competing for the championship. And as I’m based in Indianapolis and a stubborn Pacers fan for many years, I had the opportunity to delve into the sporty side of fandom in Final Game 3. There, I was able to check out their “bloom in greatness” promotional experience.

Over 1,000 flowers were used to create the display. Most of them were sourced locally and were native to Indiana.

“Blooming Into Greatness” is an installation that was found in both Game 1 in Oklahoma City and Game 3 in Indianapolis. Members of ESPN’s onsite team spoke about this unique artistic creation and its development.

“We wanted to do something really unique for the fans in this year’s final. We hit a lot of great ideas and looked for ways to work together. Flower Mr. Fantastic Since 2022. And we thought about building flower installations in both cities. These are great cities (we actually prepared for all four and are the fun part) and both teams were really excited. ”

Of course, these playoffs are surrounded by press debate and how ESPN and the NBA handle “small markets” like OKC and Indianapolis. So I had to ask her what she thought about my hometown.

“We’re very happy to be in Indiana. I think this city knows basketball better than any other city in the world, and we’re excited to bring it to you, so we found a great way to work with Mr. Flower Fantastic.

“We got really creative with his logo and presentations, but maybe about a month ago we started planning this. We wanted to do something. And we came to the idea of flowers. And we dropped it down to the four teams in the conference finals.

This was not the first install of that type. I first went back and made my debut OKC Game 1 I made the Thunder logo from Oklahoma flowers.

“Fans were really excited about it,” ESPN said of the Western reaction. “We wanted to do something else special. It was extraordinary and already extraordinary here. We want to do something big that the family can jump in and take a photo, or one person or a couple can come.”

Fans were able to bring their flowers home from the display
They even made me pose in front of me

You can watch the entire NBA final at ABC. Game 4 is scheduled to air tomorrow at 8:30pm, with Game 5 set for Monday, June 16th. You can find more information about ESPN’s 2025 NBA Finals Coverage. here.
