Founded by Emma Frost and featuring faculty including Wolverine, Magneto, Beast, Rogue, and Storm, as well as guest instructors from across the Marvel Universe, Gray Matter Lane is more than just an academy, it’s a central hub for mutant interaction around the world and beyond. This adventure is a daring undertaking that requires everyone to work together, but not all of the X-Men are ready for the idea of a separate mutant institution for higher education.

“Working on the X-Team these past few years has been one of the most fun times I’ve ever had writing comics,” Ewing said. “The idea for ‘Grey Matter Lane’ came from a bunch of writers brainstorming in a room, which is really cool because psychic space allows things to get even weirder and more surreal, but still builds on that classic Xavier school energy that we’ve all loved for decades.”
“It’s surreal! That sums up how I feel working on this new chapter of the X-Men,” Palma said. “And what an honor it was to have the opportunity to design the new campus at Greymatter Lane. We loved the freedom to really experiment with different shapes and really unusual ideas for such an iconic space for the group.”
