Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez have released a new cover record. claudio coverHere you’ll find him tackling songs by The Cure, The Smiths, Smashing Pumpkins, and more. One of the most surprising covers is Taylor Swift’s version. 1989 Includes the song “Welcome to New York”. You can listen to it along with the rest of the songs from the collection below.

“My decision to include ‘Welcome to New York’ in this cover collection is twofold,” Sanchez said in a statement. “First of all, my son was born in a hospital in Brooklyn in 2014 (Welcome to New York, Atlas!????)…and when he found out about this Swifty classic, we thought it was the first I listened to it even more than when it was released. If you know my wife, that’s a big deal.”

“The other aspect of my choice…is that I love New York,” he continued. “At a time when many people were fleeing the city due to anxiety, my family made the decision to put down deeper roots here. This is a place worthy of every compliment and song. Maybe someday I’ll have it…until this is all I can do.”
