We believe that writing directly is best. human Heart, mind, and soul without the intervention of artificial intelligence.
AI agents and chatbots make it easier than ever to churn out content with relatively minimal effort. However, we appreciate authors who strive to write thoughtful and meaningful pieces about culture at large. Since our inception, we have held ourselves to high standards of cultural criticism, avoiding vitriol and shallow commentary, instead digging deep and embracing nuance and complexity.
But maintaining that standard takes time, effort, and intentionality, and we’ve determined that articles that are essentially churned out by AI chatbots in their best attempt to answer a prompt, no matter how carefully worded that prompt, don’t meet that standard.
We recognize that AI has many benefits for authors when it comes to research, grammar checking, and even suggesting article ideas. However, we believe that writing directly is best. human Heart, mind, and soul without the intervention of artificial intelligence. for that, Going forward, we will have a strict policy of prohibiting any articles generated by AI..
What this means in practical terms is that if we determine that the draft was generated in whole or in part by an AI tool; we won’t publish it. Additionally, if we discover that an existing article was generated in whole or in part by an AI tool; I will remove it from the site. We also recommend that authors refrain from trusting AI to edit their drafts. Every article we publish is first reviewed by at least one human editor who works with the author to improve and ensure the accuracy and clarity of the article. We believe this is an important part of the publishing process.
We continue to welcome submissions and strive to encourage and champion writers who engage thoughtfully and meaningfully with various forms of pop culture. However, we would like to make those submissions available from: A unique and fully human perspective It is the result of being created in God’s image. As AI continues to permeate our culture, often in the form of deceptive and error-filled “slop,” we believe this distinction will become extremely important to our readers and to the Church as a whole.
