To celebrate the French-Brazil 2025 season, which will be held in France from April to September, and the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the French 24 cultural magazine Arts24 brings a three-part series that explores how Brazilian creativity forms national identity and promotes social change through music, film and fashion. The second installment of the Brazilian series, published by Eve Jackson, examines the country’s powerful cinema legacy and its role in confronting the country’s complex political history. Filmed in Rio de Janeiro, “Movie for Films” arrives at a pivotal moment following the Oscar’s first victory for Best International Features. In this episode, famous director Walter Sales discusses his Oscar-winning film, “I’m Still Here.” Through the true story of Eunice Paiva, whose husband forced her to disappear, the film rekindles important conversations about historical memory and justice.
