Blondie are preparing to release a new album. Their 12th LP, their first in nine years, is Midday. Here’s everything we know so far.
Does the album have a release date?
No, but it’s scheduled to arrive this spring. talk to NME Late last year, Chris Stein said, “We thought it would come out late this year, the fourth quarter, and now it’s been pushed to next year. I think it’ll probably be the first or second quarter of next year. But how does it sound? I like it.”
Who produced the new album?
John Congleton also collaborated on the band’s last album, 2017. pollinatorcreated a new record.
Who else played on the album?
As far as we can tell, the record includes one song written by Johnny Marr, one song written by Glenn Matlock, and some of the final work of drummer Clem Burke, who passed away last April.
What will the album sound like?
“I think it’s a combination of the traditional Blondie sound and musical style,” Harry said. NME. “It’s a format we’ve stuck to since the beginning. Over the years, we’ve gotten better and better at it and even incorporated some outside tracks from outside artists.” No singles have been released yet, so we’ll just have to take her word for it.
Will there be a tour supporting the album?
Blondie has not officially announced his return to the stage. According to it NME According to the interview, Harry is still working out the details of how the tour will be brought forward. “Maybe if we were to rename whatever version we were, using Blondie as an umbrella term…I’d be tempted to say, ‘Blondie Presents.’ But I’d be reluctant to go out on stage without the original members and call it Blondie. It doesn’t make sense to me.”
