Nunu Fine Art from New York presents Bellmer Naumann Pondic: Material desire From March 6th to May 30th, 2026. Curated in collaboration with Sonnabend and Ubu Gallery, this exhibition brings together works by Hans Bellmer, Bruce Nauman, and Rona Pondic, tracing an intergenerational dialogue around the body as subject and material.

Vintage photos of Bellmer from the 1930s to the present are on display. La Poupée series, video and hologram studies by Nauman in the early 1970s, and sculptures by Pondic, primarily in the 1990s. Although separated in geography and time, the three artists share an interest in fragmentation and reconstruction. Belmar’s jointless dolls present the body as mutable and psychologically charged. Nauman transforms his body into a field of patience and experimentation. Pondick casts and recombines bodily elements, implanting teeth, heads, and other fragments to create disturbing sculptural forms.

Rather than presenting the body as a coherent whole, this exhibition foregrounds decomposition as a means of exploration. Through photography, video, and sculpture, each artist treats the body as a means to explore desire, identity, and the spiritual self.

The exhibition is on view at Nunu Fine Art, 381 Broome Street, New York, NY 10012.
