Dight of the Demon (1980) dir. James Wasson
When released, 18 ratings were eventually cut down in 1994 as they were charged and banned in the UK.. The uncut version was finally released in 2022.
Devil’s Night It’s a legendary cult classic. Also, don’t be confused with the seductive tale of Jacques Tourneur’s 1957 classic story Devil’s Nightother cult classics, Kevin S. Tenny’s 1988 Devil’s Night (multiple), or even at Rambelt Baba’s 1985 nightmare sketchbook cinemas. devil – It’s worth seeing everything. For years, Wasons Devil’s Night It was impossible or rather very difficult to find, but many simply gave up hope.
This cipher elephant ploitation slice was largely forgotten by most mainstream film buffs. However, the film was recently presented with Second Life thanks to Severin Films, a production company that has done its main work by re-releasing DVD and Blu-ray cult classics, including two beautiful disc Blu-ray releases.
The film has a reputation for being laughable and incompetent. it’s not. Not only is it ruthlessly funny. that’s right. Unlike many of their siblings, Devil’s Night There is a certain style and humor that other videos are tolerant of shocking values. The look is impossible, as it is one of the best, funniest bigfoot horror movies. If you didn’t know that it was a subgenre of terror, I would simply say, “Oh, you’re a sweet summer child.”
Certainly, it’s a depressingly low bar to be the best Bigfoot movie. But that’s it Devil’s Night If there is no other reason, that madness will twist, turn, kill in outs, clear for how it moves at Bob Gibson’s fastball speed. It’s a very singular film, so when you see it you’ll notice how other films have ribed over the years. Friday the 13th Fans can see Bigfoot (Shane Dixon) throwing a camper van inside his sleeping bag like a shot.
The pacing of the fastball is primarily due to Joylencher’s editing services and compilations that have led to scores by Stuart Hardy and Dennis McCarthy. Devil’s Night I don’t really care about it like so many budget films of the time. It understands what we need to see and what we don’t do. All the while, Hardy and McCarthy’s music spans what we heard in the PBS after-school special, and the use of woodwind instruments is oddly funny. But as the film unleashes, the scores seem as Mercurial as the story, the jump tone and style, and somehow it works.
but Devil’s Night Even the nasty standard of the video is a strange duck. Partly because what turned it into a video, gore, sexual assault was added after the film was made without the knowledge of director James C. Wasson. It’s nothing new for producers to add scenes to increase the shocking value of the film. Notorious producer Roger Corman hired Jimmy T. Murakami to film a more extreme scene with Barbara Peters Humanoids from the Deep Behind her back.
Director Wasson, who was directed by the name of Jim West, was unaware of the film’s reputation and the ban from the UK. The scene was added after a disastrous screening by producer Jim L. Ball. The added post-production scene was filmed by Ball himself in the garage.
This goes a long way in explaining why Devil’s Night It feels very creepy. The story is confused as he laughs and tells him what happened, with anthropology professor Bill Nugent (Michael Katt), holding a bandage over the lower half of his face, as he quickly reveals the Bat Man villain.
A few minutes later, we meet Cara (Shannon Cooper). In the flashbacks, she tells us about story inflashbacks. Not to mention Wasson and Ball can’t find out what actually happened, as Nugnet showed them the other characters themselves without the existence of it.
But it fits perfectly with the Wasson and Ball type previously made, as wild as the story structure. Devil’s Night: Gay porn movies. Devil’s NightAs critic Elizabeth Buy points out in her review of the letter boxd, “emulates a porn loop structure more than any horror movie I’ve ever seen,” Ball doesn’t know what he’s doing because he’s happy to settle the screams of joy and the screams of death.
One scene in particular shows a couple in the forest who interrupted coitus by Ol’ Bigfoot. The man is pulled out of the van and sways and shakes from Bigfoot’s attack. Her naked woman screams in horror as her ex-lovers slides down the windshield, bleeding along the glass, her cries mimicking the screams of her lover.
The script was an idea from Ball himself and was written by Mike Williams. Devil’s Night Take another view of Sasquat. Bigfoot is often portrayed as either lovable or wild, but here he is simply the average ol’cuss, stricken by the invasive modernity of the era. But the real starting point is that while you don’t get a good look at Bigfoot in most movies, when you do in the end, he looks like something from one of the infamous Bigfoot Erotica e-Novels. Why does he shave his breasts?

Photographed by John Quick Devil’s Nightas awkward in most videos, looks cheap and muddy, but maintains a lyrical sense of pathologically witty visual composition. The opening shot of the blood pool next to the opening title sequence is to reveal that the shocking human-sized sasquatch footprint is a classic example. The playful opening features James Gunn’s echo Suicide Squad.
Legal trouble, Devil’s Night It was banned, but no one was charged. The film was eventually granted “18” by the BBFC (British Film Classification Commission) after agreeing to cut 1 minute and 43 seconds from the final cut.
What was cut? Two scenes:
- Bigfoot rips Shrongs from passing bikers.
- This is a scene in which Bigfoot reaches the character’s belly and uses the intestines as flames.
Both of these scenes exist in the uncut version available on everything on Amazon. I’ll mention this, not as a plug, but to emphasize how Devil’s Night Since it was banned, it has become widely available online for people of all ages. No one would think he would tell Bezos that he shouldn’t stream Devil’s Night It’s the children’s fault. Oh, no, for these people, the only real danger to children lies in physical libraries.
The castration scene is the banger of the scene, despite the fact that no actual castration is shown, making the cut even more stupid. However, there is the funny and sick humor embedded in the scene. The biker pulls in to get mad and has Bigfoot yank Johnson. Wasson and Ball end the scene as the biker leaned against the bike, his legs spreading like he was pissing, and the camera sniffs the blood as he tricked the side of the bike.
The use of “guts as a scene of flames” ends with the final climactic battle. Though they try to get a clear shot of Ol’s Sasquatch digging his hands into the belly of a poor man. Not because of creaks, but the scene is tamed by modern standards, with a small touch of Bigfoot wielding courage like a melee weapon.
The final act of the film, in which Nugent and his students meet Crazy Wanda (Melanie Graham), comes when the train officially leaves the truck. The script by Ball and Mike Williams transform into the O’Henry story of Palpish proportions. Carla’s enthusiastically religious father thinks she has tainted herself with the local boy. She doesn’t have so she throws her into the woods during a thunderstorm, where she has an unfortunate encounter with Bigfoot. Wanda’s Woe story doves into murder and possible desires with the hairy beast, as she tells her story of the people of the terrifying city.
In particular, the BFFC found issues in these scenes, but it didn’t seem too confused by the scene where Bigfoot sexually attacks 15-year-old Wanda. (Young Wanda is played by the same actor who plays the adult version of Wanda.) Graham’s performance is less robust than the sturdy in the bunch, making him anxious. It’s not a child, it’s an adult pretending to be a child, and it becomes a strange Rennie Mouse and male Type performance gives the character the correct amount of reality needed.

Just as Bigfoot is gutting the student, the sexual assault scenes are almost shot in the light, almost unclear, just as the two actors lie down on each other. Still, for groups involved in offensive content that could hurt small things, they ironically were indifferent to what could undoubtedly be the most traumatic aspect of the film. No matter how badly lit or decorated the melodrama, the scene can appear in mature adults.
I haven’t even reached the cult that erupted around the big hairy guy, or even the evangelical father rant of crazy Wanda’s hillbilly. I will let you discover it for yourself. Acting is often criticized as bad, and it’s not great, but it feels parallel to a kind of nonsense pattern Dragnet. Devil’s Night It’s a very goofy and nutty ride, and if it leans against an absurd dramatic element other than a harsh stoic face, everything will fall apart.
Hunter’s Night It’s a low-budget crypto horror gem and a nasty gem in the video. It also embodies the reason why it is so stupid, while still being very silly.
