Understanding the witch’s hour
Have you heard of Witching Hour? This phrase is actually used in a few different ways…sometimes it refers to the hours of the night when the baby is fussy, and in the investment world it refers to the last hours of trading before the market closes (when the situation is very uncertain). It also refers to when things become stable…
However, in my opinion, the main uses of this term and the meaning of “Witching Hour” that I want to focus on here are:
The Witching Hour is the time when the veil is thinnest, increasing humanity’s ability to sense the spiritual realm.
Where did this come from?
The witching hour originates from 1800s folklore…it was used to refer to the time of night most associated with supernatural events…according to Wikipedia: “This is the time when witches, demons, and ghosts are at their most powerful and most active.”
Wikipedia cites that the term “Witching Hour” was first recorded in writing in 1835…but its use probably dates back much earlier…
some References In 1535, the Catholic Church passed a rule banning activities between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m. due to fears of witchcraft.
Is there any truth to this concept anyway?
Is Witching Hour real?
From my point of view, yes! But that’s not necessarily how Wikipedia depicts it.
Because the truth is, there is no particular time of day (or night) when the spiritual realm is more active than at other times. Spiritual beings are always active!
At every moment, whether you are aware of it or not, there is so much activity happening in the realm of spirit…beyond the veil of normal physical perception.
So what actually is the witching hour?
The Witching Hours are times when humanity may become more aware of the activities occurring on the other side of the veil, in the spiritual realm.
Although the name suggests that it is a specific time, it is actually a period of time from the end of the night to the beginning of a new day.
It is the liminal space between night and day, between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. local time, when the veil is especially thin.
In addition to the idea that the veil is thinner at this time of year…there are several other reasons why the spiritual realms seem more accessible during the “Witching Hours.”
This is the time when most people are asleep. There is literally less interference from other people’s conscious mental activity and it is simply…quieter outside.
It is also a time when electronic activity decreases as many people are sleeping. Therefore, when you are less bombarded by electronic frequencies and your surroundings become naturally quiet and peaceful, it becomes easier to sense the subtle energies of the spiritual realm.
Do you wake up during the witching hour?
An interesting phenomenon is that many people regularly wake up at 3am (or thereabouts)… right in the middle of the witching hour.
If that’s you, don’t worry. This is not a bad thing. To be honest, it can happen for a variety of reasons…including your guides and guardian angels who are trying to bless you and connect with you.
My advice is this…if you wake up during the witching hour…consider it a blessing!
Look at yourself and reluctantly let go of the thoughts that you don’t want to wake up and remember…
I find that during the early morning hours the veil is thinner and the spiritual realms are incredibly accessible.
So instead of seeing waking up as something annoying or scary…
Take back your power!
Become aware of your thoughts and feelings…and stabilize them! Return to a state of present moment awareness…be aware of yourself here and now.
Next, take a few deep breaths and consciously summon love and light around you.
A golden light fills the heart center and consciously evokes higher guidance.
“I am now calling on my personal team of supreme Christ light and loving guides and angels. Please come forward and connect directly with me right now. Your loving presence. Please help me to be attuned to the will of God and bring me the most helpful guidance, healing, and wisdom…for the greatest good of all.”
Then continue to consciously breathe and relax, open your heart, and remain willing to experience the loving presence of higher guidance and any healing, guidance, and wisdom available to you…
That you can be aware and consciously perceive this moment.
Relax, breathe, and enjoy the magic.
